Mini update......

Sump is drilled and tapped for the oil return, it's just above the static oil level, with 2 litres in circulation there shoul be no issues, it has 700 mm fall from the turbo core.

All fabricated parts are now painted.

MSloom is wired in to the original Moronic( no typo  )

Won't be @ Aces, could just scrape it in but I'd rather be 110% for the first outing

Malc has pix, I'm sure He'll post up later/monday

Looks like a great project! Looks really neat.

Just worried about the ignition leads / spark plugs getting rather hot due to the close proximity of the turbo manifold / pipework.

What kinda power are you expecting from this? 170bhp maybe...?

Giles.

No I havent got any info on the car it was a red 318 touring. This was going back a few years 1991. It belonged to the man who owned a car audio shop in cambridge called safe and sound. wonder what happened to it.

Wrap came form Burton Power Products Jon, Demon Theives sell it too

Best place to purchase........ Anywhere that deal in M/cycle tuning.

M40 is 99% done now, minor fab to finish on the charge pipes but otherwise oi/water tight and fully wired for MS

Malc has pix, maybe they'll appear later on, he has Connection issues @ the mo.

The M40 is alive and well !

Had minor blow from turbo to manifold but a deft weld soon sorted that out, started 1st turn of the key on its new ECU and settled to a steady fast idle @ 1500 rpms, need to tune her now but for today thats a good result.

runs, starts fine even when hot, sounds proper  too even just idling.

Have another 1/2 day to go and then she's back, and baddass

total hours to date 41, not bad for a scratch built setup 8)

Just been for the 1st drive.......... Impressive 8O

only a short blat to get some base settings and referance points in the MS, idle is smooth as a baby's arse, had some fun with the inhibit switch but thats been bypassed for now, will tweak that later

Just off to drive the 20 ish miles to home from here ( Unit) gonna map all the way back, then Malcolm is coming down to mine for a full full load runs.

Will report back later on fellas .

Forgive me for being stupid, but where does the air from the compressor go to ?

Air cooler?
directly to the TB ?

More pix  or even beter ...... Video winkeye

If you mean compresor on turbo it goes past a manifold air pressure sensor into a intercooler and then past a dump valve/blow off valve which lets off pressure when TB is closed after boost and this lets turbo carry on spinning easier I think, if it didnt then the turbo would get a braking effect on it, after this it goes to the TB, mattias talk about a temperature sensor for air in intake aswell dunno of might of got wrong idea
