following on from my turbo topic the other day, looks like i tempted fate as my turbo is giving big puffs of blue smoke on full boost and there is oil in the boost pipes and the intercooler, bollox
ive just been looking at prices and a direct replacement for the t34 i already have is £765 new but im also considering an upgrade to a t38 which is £1150 new.i know which one i want but im struggling to justify it.ive also seen a t4 hybrid with external wastegate thats allegedly new for a extremely cheap £850, or is there a direct replacement Holset turbo thats available for the cosworth? whats your opinions?

Double the output quoted for Petrol dude
Fozzy runs an H1C the HX I have is bigger, Marks turbo is easily capable of 30 psi on a 2.5 with boost to spare, efficent range quoted 15-31 psi iirc.
Chek out to compressor maps Fuzzy
The T4 route is proven, but its a very old design of turbo.

.would using a holset turbo mean id have to get another manifold or would it fit my cossie 4wd manifold directly ?

H1C and HX35 series are T3 footprint on the turbine so bolt on mate
do you have the pecs on what you have ?
comp wheel size ? trim ? A/R etc for both hot and cold
T34 is normally t3 back end in 58mm size and 0.52 A/R wih small compressor ( 60mm ish ) in 0.67 A/r housing
HX 35 W specs are:
Comp 82mm housing is 0.82 A/R tubine 72mm in 0.91A/R
in english:
HUGE compared to even the Rs500 T4 unit, but much more modern design , lower rotating inertia , less lag and much more boost with much reduced charge temps
More power

Take some pix Fuzzy
there should be an I.D plate on the thnag somewhere with the assy no.
the A/R will be cast into the housings.
there are a lot of T34 hybrids on the market, who supplied the unit ?
I have the specs for the std 4WD sapphy unit, its what I'm using currently
if you use a bigger turbine side, the boost comes in later but stronger, less torque but lots more top end HP
depends what you were wanting to achieve dude ?

it has AR0.63 on the exhaust side there is a tag with nothing on it and M27 and 93 on the inlet side, not sure if that means much though.im looking for low down boost for quick acceleration rather than lag with more top end .my engine is 2WD but has a 4WD manifold for inner wing clearance issues.my ultimate aim is around the 400 bhp figure, give or take a few horses, all suggestions greatfully recieved

in the end i decided on a direct replacement so today i bought another t34 with 360 degree thrust bearing and cut back blades, i have no idea what that actually means but it sounds impressive
.by the time i also bought some new samco hoses its cost me the thick end of £1000
.the good thing is its a brand new turbo so i can keep the old one to take apart and fix up myself as a back up
i now need to put in some overtime at work to pay for it
