A quick one, how much should I expect to pay for an inspection 1 inspection 2 service?

Cheers

Cheers for the advice and the costs. Yeah I did the last 2 services (oil and filters) myself and got the reset trick with the wire of this site.

Thanks again!

There's nothing difficult about inspection 1, and nothing that bad in inspection 2. Save yourself loads of money, do it yourself, learn a lot about your car, and know that its been done properly.

Here's the link to reset the lights

http://www.bmwe30.net/cgi-bin/datacgi/d ... Section=02

All for doing it myself, only trouble iw were to do it as I live in a city flat, no garage, ramps etc etc. Anyone got any tips for working on cars in town, ways to get around not having a ramp?

Cheers

I've got the same problem. It's a real pain being on the 4th floor! Most of the time i end up paying for jobs that i could do myself but simply can't do it on the street

What can't you do on the street?

I have replaced an exhuast (including manifold) front struts, rear springs, installed an electric fan conversion. etc etc.

If you car is standard suspension I can just about get underneath it, well enough to change the clutch fluid.

You don't need to jack it up to replace any fluids. (whatever haynes says)

sorry but what good does it do resetting the inspection lights? :?

surely they are there to tell you that you are due an inspection
so resetting them would be a bad thing wouldnt it? :?

The idea is to do the service/inspection and then reset the lights! That's what they're for.

Hi,

I just done the oil and filter in my car, and re-set the oil lights, and now the 'inspection' light has come on. How do i know if its an inspection 1 or 2, as it just says 'inspection'. Also whats involved? Just spark plugs and air filter??

Many thanks

How do you re-set inspection light? I know how to do the oil ones, and have done them, but the 'inspection' didnt go away...?

Err yes!

Billgates should have the receipt in his big file of paperwork! The above prices were for the four plus scheme, with no other discounts, I've even got the price booklet somewhere.
