Can't help to much with the answers you need...Apologies, but your conversion does sound good....Keep a log in the Engine Swp section of the zone...

Sounds like a good project, you'll have to post specs up!
If you have a large case diff, I suspect you'll need at least an m3 one for gearing you will be fine.
As for the gearbox, I'm pretty sure nothing else will fit. But i might be fine, with regular fluid changes!
Would have thought the clutch would need uprating though

M3 diff will be fine for use. I'll be putting 350 horses thru mine very shortly
If you can get hold of one, the larger diff cover with the massive cooling fins - your diff will love you for it

thats a ZM3/coupe back plate cover £100 from the dealer with the stonger rear bush in it also
as it's a 4 pot i can't think of a gearbox which will bolt straight on, as the 2.5 boxes can handle the power your car will be running
M3 diff is all ok but the ratio will be well out if you can't use a gearbox like the dogleg unit no?

Even a 3.64 LSD should be fine in it as for the g/b, if you wanted to go down the route of an adaptor for the bell housing and use some thing along the lines of a cosworth g/b - not heard of it done before with the IS engine but, with the old sckool v6/v8 conversions this was a good/strong mod.
Only thing is you'll be shelling out to get the prop shaft shortened and balanced to allow for a different g/box
Neil.

Its torque that kills diffs and gearbox, not power (As such...).
M3 diff is great, wassisname with the LS1 engined M3 (411bhp and nearly 400lbft torque) uses one.
Once more, not sure about boxes...though looking in the owner's manual, all the boxes are the same ratio apart from the sport box fitted to the 325is and 318is (is that right?) which insinuates that they are the same 'box?
