I'm skeptical, having once used enamel, applied by brush, to repaint a Morris Minor (when I was young and silly): the enamel took an age to dry off by which time dust & flies, etc galore had landed in it, and brushmarks & runs were all to easy to achieve.

The paint did have a good gloss and was pretty durable though. I've also tried using a HVLP sprayer (Apollo) to spray it on, which does achieve better results, though still very easy to get runs with slow-drying enamel - cellulose is way better in that respect. Fortunately however, my younger brother opened up a bodyshop and I no longer have to resort to my amateurish bodywork repairs
