Don't bother.
I bought one about 2 years ago before I knew any better. The guy says on his advert that it does not harm the engine but when you get it delivered there is a disclaimer in the instructions to say
"I will not be responsible for any engine damage caused as a result of using this product"
and also
"This product may not be legal for road use"
Needless to say I never fitted the thing and it was thrown in the bin ages ago.
Incidently this guy is the only ebayer to leave me negative feedback as I left him negative feedback stating the engine damage issue and not legal and that he did not respond to my emails.

Arrrrgh, these things are just such a pile of shite!
We really should all start selling variable resistors on e-bay advertised to increase the power of an engine!
Do people not know how much work's involved in getting an extra 45bhp from any engine?!

Worth about £1.50 and available from Maplins, etc.
I presume it "works" (doesn't, of course), by simulating a slightly faulty blue temp sensor, making the ECU think the engine is slightly cold, and increasing the fueling.
Emissions controlled, and especially Cat equipped cars, are designed to run on a leanish fuel mixture, which is not the same as a max power mixture, so the idea is to move the mixture more towards this point.

I'd also like to point out that he was only claiming a gain of "up to 20+ bhp" previously or something like that. He must've found a better quality of parts and now his parts costs are 50p instead of 30p. lol

If you had the car on a rolling road, you could probably get a small increase in power at different loads and revs by twiddling this knob at each point. If you logged these settings, you could use the data to reprogram the map in the ECU.
Or you could let someone else do the work for you and buy a zone chip.

Seriously though, it wouldn't be that difficult to convert yours to Motronic. I would think that if you're going for that 2.7 you'll have to. I could be wrong, but I think that running a 2.7 on Jetronic would be compromise at best.

Stuart,
There's a guy who's been onto Terry looking to sell a low mileage 525e. I've said I'm interested, but it's all gone quiet - maybe something to so with the Bank Holiday? If I get it, Jon say's he'll build it, and he's also got some bit and pieces that may be needed. If the electronics need changing for the better, it'll be done
Cheers,
Mick
