I'm seriously hoping that number 4 is not necessary!

All I did was remove the ICV to get access to the two hoses that run water in/out of the TB, disconnect the two hoses and join together - I used the 10mm straight brass coupler from Focus with two jubilee clips. I then used an old bit of hose to block off the inlet/outlet on the TB. Refit the ICV and hey presto  Tomorrow I'm going to shorten the hoses to tidy it up and will do some photo's.. just for you TW166Y :thumb:

It's hard to say weather I can notice any difference as I've just taken off my Scorpion exhaust and fitted a standard centre with a 320is back box, the car definetly drives a LOT better but it's hard to say why.

How to guide.. just for TW166Y :D

1. Tools required, hose screwdriver, tube to join pipes and a stanley for cutting hose (optional)

Image

2. Open up your bonnet :teehee:

Image

3. Remove ICV

Image

4. Disconnct the two water hose running into the TB, please note the bottom one is already removed.

Image

5. Insert tube into water hose and tighten jubilee clip, this is also the point to shorten hoses for a cleaner install.

Image

6. Connect other water hose and tighten jubilee clip

Image

7. Cut bit of old hose (of correct diameter) to use as a bung.

Image

8. Fit cut hose between the inlet/outlet's to act as a bung.

Image

9. Refit ICV and hey presto your done :D

Image

For a tidyier install when you remove the ICV remove the AFM and bellows so that you can shorten the two hoses. Sorry for the crap photo's it's quite windy outside and I was having to stop the bonnet wacking me on the head :?

I hope this helps :thumb:

You two should be on stage!!! As Eko said earlier in this thread (or the other one....) We did this to my "new" 318is the other day and it did make a noticable difference. Im not sayin it was like slappin on a turbo!! So far ive had no probs with it startin or anything and it does seem to be a bit more responsive to throttle inputs.

There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship" more than wrinkles in the Gaffer tap

Good info people, write up and pics is excellent :D

You can take this a little further, while the head was off I removed the pipe from it's clips and routed it from the head direct to the stat, it's about 4 inchs to short on it's own so I cut one length down and retained the join although if you had a length slightly longer it could be done in one.

HTH, Mark.

Wilson - after a few days driving how is the car? What real differences have you noticed? Fuel consumption, performance etc.

Cheers,

Theo
