:woohoo: I got the electric roof working :woohoo:

Now I need to fine tune it. When the back of the roof (above the lid) lifts up it moves slowly and sometimes needs a helping hand. I have put some lubrication on all the joints I can see. Also it does move far enough forward to let the flap move up freely, but if you release the button then press it again it will then move far enough to let the flap past :screwy: . Finally, like most roofs it doesn't fold away perfectly into it's place and sometimes the flap sticks up be as much as five inches.

If you've any advise please let me know

Cheers.

I also have my roof working, but only to lift the rear hoop. the lid doesnt then move, an when you take your finger off the button you hear a click (also when you press the button again). if you can dig out the info you have I would also be very gratefull. Nick Thompson sugested I try to get it working myself before I go back to him in sheffield.

Thanks

Martin

Thanks dave, I did find that about a year ago and that was what inspired me to fix it myself, but with you making that post I did read the link again and worked some of the problem out..... If you look and read where this website talks about the bug http://www.e30ic.com/powertop.htm the arm which moves too far doesn't move enough and means that I need to activate the bug at the right point to move the hood enough for the flap to move. I think I will keep it like that to save the motor from breaking.

martin First check the motor is plugged in, then take the plug out the motor and use + and - from the battery to check if the motor works then have a read though the website above, then get back to us if you have anymore problems.

I think that the roof is quite a simple system really.
