First time I MOTd the Sport it failed on a worn ball joint or something like that, I forget now. Not bad considering it went from 7 years sat in a garage doing about 1300miles a year, straight into everyday use - I did more miles in the first month of owning it than it had done in the previous yearblatantarrogance wrote:Anyone had a plesant MOT experience.. or not?

I hope seized adjusters on their own don't make a fail - that'd take out most of the E30 crowd in one goparksie wrote:what's with this new MOT test anyway![]()
Today i went for a re test, previously failed on headlight alignment (total seized adjusters) now new angle eyes![]()
So the geezer set about checking everything again , picking up points "i missed the 1st tme", wanker, after insisting i try to realign the lights on his garage wall i get a new MOT cert some 1.5hrs later

Won't be going back there next time!!!!!

Why couldn't you do anything about it?? You knew they were faulty, and still put it in for a ticket, knowing it would fail, and the work would have to be done anyway! Can't see the point.Bob_S wrote:mine failed on loose track rod ends and headlight alignment both of which I knew about but couldnt do anything about! so I was pretty pleased!

Bet it'll be fine!!! Where in Somerset are you?jmc330i wrote:Good news![]()

Headlamp adjusters last for ever if you take the trouble to add a little copper grease to the threads. It's called maintenence.parksie wrote:Brian, i beg to differ, the Head light adjuster's certainly are not a quality component, my guess designed for no more than 10yrs

Got the message M8, pity the frickin previous owners/ mechanics didn'tBrianmoooore wrote:Headlamp adjusters last for ever if you take the trouble to add a little copper grease to the threads. He checked the lights squirted the windows with washer and said wow, what nice car, how can this possibly fail an MOT?? and passed it!!!!

No car NEEDS a cat to pass MOT, but it does need to meet the emission requirements for it's registration. Mine comfortably meets the cat type emissions without a cat by running on LPG.Blue_MK2 wrote:Well done mate.
Would a 'k' plate e30 need a CAT to pass mot?

Exactlty, hence as I said, I didn't go back there.paulj wrote:Thats all good until your driving downt the road at 90 and the brakes failblatantarrogance wrote:How about this for a test...
