My 89 320 has started spluttering when you accelerate and sounds like its running rough.

Could this possibly be related to me starting to use sainsburys super unleaded?

checked the filters, pipes etc, all clear

Anyone any idea?

Thanks

Sooty spark plugs indicate overfueling.......have you had a look at the blue temp sensor on the thermo housing, it could be that causing the problem...or maybe a dodgy FPR....

You need to measure the resistance of the senor on a cold and then a warm engine. Brianmoore will be be able to tell you the values.

None whatsoever!
Blue temp sensor:
cold: 3910 ohms
cold water from tap: 3400 ohms
hot water from tap: 980 ohms
very hot water 306 ohms.
These were actual values measured from a good sensor. The faulty oone it replaced gave each reading about double.
