Yup, this is a double-post, but I figure more people will see it this way! :x

If you're reading this Stuart, here's another chance to explain yourself... Otherwise, consider this a warning to all other zoners (Especially those in Falkirk...)

A certain "Stuart Forrest" (http://www.e30zone.co.uk/modules.php?na ... ile&u=3882) bought a tech-2 spoiler off me on eBay.
He took about a week to send payment.
He then put in paypal claim that it hadn't arrived, before it could possibly have arrived.
He ignored all e-mails & contact from paypal, so they of course, decided to give him his money back.
Wrote to him, etc with no reply, & eventually I claimed the money back from the post office, bar the postage price.
I've not been able to use my paypal account for a year because they still want me to send him another Ԛ£15.
He signed up here, I PMed him for an explaination - thought I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.
He said it was all a missunderstanding.
I asked him to tell paypal that, so I could get my account unlocked.
I haven't heard anything since then, surprisingly...

Consider youselves warned... Shame there are people like that on the zone to try & ruin it for the rest of us.

I did that - they just put you into the red! For some reason the last Ԛ£15 has to be voluntarily sent - which is why I've not sent it & my account's been blocked for a year. No great loss I guess - I've discovered enough about paypal & the way they work that I wouldn't want to use em anyway, but still...

not sure how far away he is but if you have his address we should have an e30 meet outside his house, and instead of sideways action and donuts, we can all line up and take turns giving him a slap around his head, he has basically found a loop hole in ebay and they are falling for it, can you not send them some post off the zone to back up your story.

Basically, anyone who sends anything that's been paid for by paypal, make sure it's trackable online I made the mistake of trying to send it by a postage method that was reasonably priced & look where it got me. Paypal are just tw@ts about it - they basically agreed with me about what had happened, but wouldn't phone him / write to him / e-mail him (& get a reply!), or even accept my scanned receipt.

At the end of the day, it's not worth worrying about, I just don't want someone else falling for it again... & if someone sees my spoiler, feel free to key / steal it - you've got the owner's permission afterall.

Cheers mate :)

Jon

This is what he said, the one and only time I've heard from him since the auction finished (when he signed up here):
Hi there,

Small E30 world eh!?

First of all I apoligise for not responding to you, I responded to Paypal informing them that I had recieved the spoiler, but I got a reply from them only after they had debited money from your account.

I have since realised that I should have dealt with you in person, but due to bad past experiences I have found that this usually leads to me being left without cash and goods! Clearly there are some decent guys out there like yourself that aren't out to screw people over!

I am glad you managed to be reimbursed, hope we can put this behind us, as I'm new on this and just want to use it to get to know other owners and get information for my E30!

Thanks again,

Stuart Forrest

P.S What colour of red is it painted? Looks Brilliant Rot in daylight but under artificial light it looks darker?
My reply was that I needed to know what he said to paypal, so that I could tell em & get my account unlocked. & that's us up to date... I was p'd off about it a year ago, but I'm just about over it(!) - just wanted to warn others really, & I still wouldn't mind being able to use my paypal account...

Use NoChex

Much less likely to get ripped off by this type of scam.
I think there is some sort of on-line petition going on over in the for sale / e-bay section.

Well excuse me but this has absoloutely nothing to do with anyone except myself and "Ziggy".

Do you have any idea what PM is... Private Message, deemed to be... private!

I have not been on the site for quite some time due to me being busy with other things. But not that it has anything to do with you.
bajandaan wrote:not sure how far away he is but if you have his address we should have an e30 meet outside his house, and instead of sideways action and donuts, we can all line up and take turns giving him a slap around his head, he has basically found a loop hole in ebay and they are falling for it, can you not send them some post off the zone to back up your story.
And this is precisely the reason Why it should not be broadcast on a public forum, people with nothing constructive to say whatsoever butting in with smart a*se comments.

I got a PM from HartgeH27 asking to check this post and explain myself or I may well be banned.

Can I please ask why?

I have read the rules thoroughly - http://www.e30zone.co.uk/modules.php?na ... ic&t=16848.

I cannot see any single rule that I have broken. Surely this is a paypal/ebay matter not an E30zone matter. No offence intended atall to Hartge27 I know you mean to do the right thing but to be honest it has nothing to do with you, or anyone else on the zone for that matter. Its purely between myself and "ziggy".

"Ziggy" - If you still have a problem with it, report it to Ebay/Paypal, I will not reply on this.
Thankyou.

Thanks for the support, i will be more than happy to resolve this over pay pal/ebay. It doesnt matter what is said on here, it will have no effect on what happens with ebay/paypal so its a pointless post.

If youre bothered about it, take it up with the people that can do something about it.

more to the point i suggest this be put in the ebay / feedback section as this is one particular persons bad experience.

upon looking at his feedback on ebay this suggests that its a one off incident.

i think the transaction under question should be kept off-site, but from reading the title it seems like the thread was intended to be about something else - warning about a bad ebay seller (whether or not you are one - yet to be decided it appears?).

i've seen threads before mentioning ebay sellers and how a zoner or zoners have been ripped off by them, and i think it's fine to let others know if you have been ripped off so it doesn't happen to them.

but, this looks like it needs to be resolved before that...perhaps ziggy thought it had been 'concluded' as he hadn't heard from you?

Stuart - While I agree with you that the actual dispute can and should only be resolved through ebay/Paypal it seems to me that you are missing an opportunity to "clear your name".

If the general facts in the original post are true you have, at the very least, caused a fellow zoner a deal of trouble by the fact that his Paypal account has been frozen.

You may not wish to go into details on here, but if you wish to buy/sell parts through the zone, it may be in your interests to do so. Until a post is seen showing that the matter has been resolved I doubt you will find any zoners who will be happy to deal with you.

Hope you can satisfactorily clear this up between you.

I have to agree with you there Mr 316. Mr Stuart's integrity and honesty is being called into question here and if it was me, i'd be putting my side of the story accross, cause there are 2 sides to every story, so whilst in principle you are right to say keep it off the forum, in practical you should want it here so we can all make up our mind whether the accusations have basis or not.

This is what i don't understand:

So why has it taken this long to NOT sort the problem over ebay/paypal.

Obviously your communication skills are lacking considerably or something, going on PM's that have been posted you have admitted that you have the spoiler(heck i've even seen a picture of it on on your car) but you haven't given ziggy the money. This is like the knob who has bent Jonb over.

Your chance is now to show your side of the story, because otherwise the 366 people that have read this will never ever do a transaction with you, I certainly won't. Probably more than 366, people that have just seen the title as well.

Also as far as I see currently there is nothing wrong with the title of the thread, as you hae his spoiler, and his money, return one of them, or prove otherwise, then the thread can be changed or deleted.

No one is asking him to sort it out on here.

But, in order to be absolutely fair to both parties, we would like to hear his side of the story. Until Stuart gives an explanation we have to assume that the original post is correct and that he is at fault.

You can be certain that ebay/Paypal will do nothing after 12 months anyway.

It's all very well saying it's an ebay/paypal problem, but if one zoner has ripped another zoner off then it's all our problem cause i for one would like to know so i dont ever fall in that trap with that person. If that's not the case, then state so and we can all see for ourself, otherwise like 316 says we'll just have to presume the original post is correct and the evidence so far dont look too favourable to Mr Stuart. He has the item in question and the seller has not been paid for it for whatever reason.

I think it's clear to see that trying to sort it out over ebay/paypal has brought a conclusion the seller isn't happy with. After all he's said it's been a year since his paypal account has been closed.

While I don't think its right letting a "witch hunt" start because it's been posted on the board. It seems after paypal/ebay have failed to resolve the problem and the buyer has yet to reply to the sellers PM's (Whether it be on purpose or not)

Now maybe the only chance to come to an amicable conclusion

Do the right thing Stu and sort it out over PM's no ones blaming you for what happened, but if you pass a chance to clear your name then it doesn't look too good.

The whole point of this issue, to all those people who say this should be sorted through pay pal, is that it has taken 12 months and this thread before stuart has surfaced to answer the problem. Had he sorted it out through pay pal, or even replyed to one of ziggys emails this thread would not have been posted. Ziggy is a good bloke and has obviously only resorted to this public discussion as emails and PM's have yeilded no replys.

As far as I see it, after all this time, either stuart sorts it with pay pal, and ziggy gets his money, and I think a public apology (Stuart you only have your self to blame that this has become public, and now it is you proteste that it is no one elses business are irrelevant) OR we chalk this down to experience, no one buys from this seller again and he is banned from the zone.

PS sorry Danny you must type quicker than me! We all seem to be sayign the same thing though Stu, if you don't sort the problem out now then you have obviously done this on purpose and that can't be tolerated.

Having read these posts, I agree with 316 and bootyman, Mr Stuart must offer his side of the story to try and redeem himself.

Hiding behind "use ebay or proper channels to sort ths" type comments is irellivant and shows people are not reading the posts correctly. It appears this potentially could be a scam which has been perpetrated by other people and exploits flaws in paypals policy. As we are 12 months down the line from the initial communications with paypal and are without result, the "proper channels" have been exhausted.

Ziggy has every right to use this media to try and gain resolution. When people have complaints about their banks or their local car dealer, if they have no joy, the press is only too keen to hear about it. If Ziggy feels this is the best way to try and gain a resolution then this is his prerogative.

Use of the internet has enabled communications to conquer physical distances between people, the very thing that scammers feel safe exploiting. There has to be a consequence for proven scammers exploiting people in this fashion. Even if it is just bringing the matter to the attention of fellow zoners, so they can be aware of it and make an informed decision about whether they wish to deal with the parties or not.

If it takes a witch hunt to resolve this issue, so long as the pressure applied is above board and legal, then so be it. These incidents ruin the vary nature of what these sorts of forums are about.

If Mr Stuart is guilty of scamming, I'm sure if some disgruntled people let their feeling be known to him face to face, he would think twice about doing this sort of thing again.

However this comes full circle, if Mr Stuart can vindicate himself of blame, he needs to do so on here. His silence will justify any witch hunt or action taken against him.

This country is buried under mindless beaurocracy and liberal ideals which perport to fairness but actually throw a spanner in the works for victims of these sort of things.

I'm not justifying violence or condoning it but the pen is not always mightier than the sword. There is no substitute for face to face communication.

If I was on the receiving end of such a scam and it would be worth my while to pay someone a visit, I'd do it in the blink of an eye.

It's not childish, immature or neolithic. It's just an old fashioned way to get results.
