I'm about to undertake a BBTB conversion, and as I'm removing the inlet manifold, the breather tube is obviously viewable. When he heard this one of my friends said I should fit a filter to it. Is there really any point or gain to be had with this?

Quick question, why are you removing the inlet manifold just to replace the throttle body with a big bore version?
Un do all the necessary anciliaries thats attached to the original TB then its just 4 nuts and you can remove the throttle body.
No need to remove the inlet manifold at all.
