IVE DECIDED TODAY TO DUMP ME OLD ALLOYS - WHICH WASNT HARD - THIS LEAVES ME WITH THE QUESTION OF WHAT TO GO FOR. I WAS GOING TO GET THE ALPINAS REP IN 17IN BUT WHAT DO U ALL THINK I SHOULD GO FOR - OH AND WHAT TYRE SIZE TO GET - KEEPING IN MIND THAT I WANT A NICE SOMMTH RIDE - NOTHING TOO BUMPY AND I MIGHT LOWER IT IN A WHILE MAYBE 30MM

the obvious choice is the 17" alpinas that you mention, top quality wheel well suited to the e30. why blank out your numberplate on some pics and not all though?

nice to see new pics mate, looks cool with the top down, alpina's are a safe bet as they'll fit perfectly with the car although they have been done to death IMO, depends on what you want but the choice is limited due to the offset of the E30 unless you use wheel spacers.

Alpina reps, azevs or bbs but 16 or 17"
In my opinion these are the main aloys that suit the e30

and the BBS are awaitng refurbish and a polish but i think they are the nicest rims for a non-black car

Image

and MK are very rare but Kos has his eye on these! (do you still want em mate BTW?)

Superted,
If you live around Kildare then I'd be weary of 17's. You'll start going through tyres like they're going out of style with the potholes on the roads.
Personally, I'd go for a set of 15" cross spokes or ACS wheels if you can get a hold of them.
Cracking looking car by the way.

They are Devil H109 alloys. As an aftermarket style they were the only ones I liked and which would could be pulled off on an E30. Inspiration for choosing these wheels sounds funny but the Ferrari F430 has those similar style rims hence the choice.

Also, Gouki,

Are they 17's and do they require any spacing etc?

Superted,

Depends on your budget mate. I wanted DTM style for my 2dr and looked at BBS, they were smart but I was quoted Ԛ£2K for wheels & tyres. 8O Out of my league I'm afraid.

Other options were well over a grand.

In the end I went for Dare Supermesh 'cause they fit (with spacers) and cost Ԛ£820 all in with Toyo T1-S, spacers, locking nuts, delivered. Here's how they look:
Image
The decider was the stainless rims, real smart, but the silver finish on the alloys isn't that great if I'm being honest. One or two Scottish winters and they're gonna need refurb'ed. :(

rite its looking a lot like the alpinas at the mo but was thinking of these or am i mad?
I also looked at TSW, although the PCD was correct and the even an acceptable offset (though spacers can compensate for the offset) I couldn't get wheels with the correct hub size. :(
'89 325i - was an SE but not anymore, was bronze-beige metallic (yeuch!) but now techno-violet (thankfully)

cheers dude, i've fitted them on without spacers, and they are fine although they do sit in just a bit. I've only just bought spacers for em recently but I have to get longer bolts for those particular wheels as the nuts are of a special type. And they are 17's.

ARB kit - good idea, that's on my shopping list too, anyone else up for it? Maybe we can get a group buy discount from the Zone Shop?

Suspension kit - I've fitted the SPAX PSX kit, it's excellent, for fast road use I have her on mid settings (slightly hard but she feels absolutely solid :D :D :D ) and I've had her on a track once, mid settings too soft but she still performed really well.

Strut braces - I don't know if you have 'em or not, front & rear uppers will cost you less than the ARB kit, are dead easy to fit and make a HUGE difference - even before I fitted the SPAX kit they made my car (325 SE) feel like night & day. I've got the Sparco double tube Aluminium on the front and single tube Al on the rear, they may not look as cool as some others but they're cost effective, readily available and do a good job. If you do go for strut braces make sure you do front & rear together and keep them matched (don't mix different makes or flex) 'cause your car is designed to flex, and front & rear should flex together (relatively), if you stiffen one e.g. by 30% and not the other you will actually upset the handling :( - same goes for the suspension, for good handling (which it sounds like you want, otherwise why bother with the ARB's) always keep things matched!

Sounds like you're cars gonna be a doll when you're finished  (if you ever finish)

Whatever you do with her, enjoy :D
