What happens when you start it and try revving it?

Perhaps try getting someone to rev it while you spray in Easy Start - perhaps it just needs to 'clear it's throat'...

Also, I take it you have the in and out fuel pipes and fuel filter on the correct way round?

Couldn't find a friend so got the wife instead lol

Here are a couple of videos. The first is without any easy start and the second I get it up to 3000 revs and apart from initial alternator bearing scream its the best I have had for a while.

I had to publish them on youtube as couldn't attach them here

Apologies for any rude words used as its just frustration!!!

Good going, but I would have been tempted at that point (at the end of the second video) to inject some more Easy-start in the inlet manifold then replace that pipe prior to having another go...

Thanks Maurice for your reply. I will ie it another try and for longer net time. I just didn't want to over do it and the smell of the fumes was a bit overwhelming at that point so I thought it would be prudent to wait. But at least it is progress!!!

Yes, at least you've now had it running for a few seconds and it sounded quite healthy. What is what appears to be a half inch or so diameter inlet/outlet pipe under the rubber hose, and what is the red cap for?

Not sure what you mean by the half inch inlet/outlet pipe or the location you mention? could you please clarify and the red cap you mention is fitted to the Idle Control Valve as a blank cover stop or bung and has always been there

The bit that looks like an inch or so long tube sticking out in the centre of the screen in the second video - perhaps there's supposed to be a breather hose attached?

Where the little red cap is - For reference the vacuum pipes on the cold start unit side on the manifold go to the fuel pressure regulator and the other to the partial load switch mounted on the NS, on the air cleaner box. See attached photo and diagram.

Useful to know - thanks for posting. I saw a similar version t'other day when researching this, but it was in German! Do you still own this immaculate example?

I'd suggest ensuring these items are looked at again - does it even have an FPR fitted now?

Just put mine on the historic list and got the V5 back, as soon as I get round to it there might be another Henna BM back on the road :D

Your car looks fantastic!!! Anyway thank you fro the information and diagram I looked at the pipe you mentioned and it goes into the side of the breather hose on top of the rocker cover (see photos) Not sure if there is a check valve here or not but does not appear to be a Partial Load switch as shown in the above diagram

Thanks for your message and Yes it does have one. Sorry I don't understand why do you think it hasn't got one?

What year is the car? There were quite a few changes to the L-Jetronic in later years and may be why there are differences to Hennabm's early car and mine.

How long before changing the pump, weeks/months/years?

Did you test the fuel pressure while cranking the engine over or shorting the pump wiring? While cranking the engine gives a better idea of if it continues to run or not.
Your test with spraying easy start and it running for longer would indicate a fuel problem.

That is why there will be differences from the early cars and some of the schematics. Some things were removed and 'simplified' in later cars

A 1985 car would normally be on an A- or B-plate; D-reg was c.1986/7.

To be pedantic :D 1985 would be 'B' or 'C' but 'D' reg was indeed 86/87, either way I did think this was a late Jetronic car that has some differences to both my HC car and HennaBMs early LC car.

These days with unreliability and scarcity of parts for these old Jetronic cars, if they start to cause problems then best advice is to fit Motronic. Exactly what mine is getting
