It so needs to be road legal 8)

However, I think the stealth appeal of a 316 badged tourer on steelies with this engine would be worth selling a kidney for :)

yes james, i've seen this car before when i've done a search for information on my conversion.
also on that site there's an 850 with an S62 engine but with the vanos units taken off.

I did see that but wasnt sure if it was the S62 or not - probably looks weird without the plenum. Is there any advantage of removing the Vanos or is it something best suited to a track car?

i've spoken to a few people who've put the S62 into other cars and they also had to remove the vanos units and lock the cams in one position because they didn't get enough of the vehicle loom or didn't get the

Makes sense, would be costly to get the Vanos running otherwise.

I thought it might be for a performance reason of sorts - I know that some people take the Vanos off the S50 engines for racing because they can better tune the engine for racing purposes without the Vanos, or at least thats how it was described to me.
