Brake servo/master cylinder relocation behind dash
Moderator: martauto
Hi,
I'd prefer not to lose the servo, or to have it in the engine bay by the headlight. I've seen a lot of references to siting it behind the glovebox, but few pictures or detail.
Has anyone done this? What servo and master cylinder did you use and do you have any pics of the bracketry?
Thanks

I have done such a swap.
Ergen motorsport put togethera kit that you can use with servo and all, isnt cheap but makes the whole process very simple.
I will try and dig up some pictures as photobucket has been an ass with hosting now

Thanks WYZEUP, much appreciated. I know, PB has managed to single handedly ruin the internet.
I've seen the Ergen kit, but it's a little rich for me and there are no details of what servo or master cylinder they have specified.
Thanks

Try this....is a couple of photos from while i was installing the booster.

It is expensive for what it is, but for ease and piece of mind it works well. was sceptical at first because of the size of the booster, but which some good pads and the matched master cylinder i am quite happy with the braking capabilities.
Only annoying part was having to figure out where to put the reservoir.

I ordered the booster and master from Ergen as well....they matched the master cylinder size to the brakers that i have fitted.
you can fit an e30 booster and master to the bracket if you like, takes a little beating of the firewall to fit tho

Bringing up a blast from the past but what car is the actual brake servo/booster that Ergen Motorsport from? I know it's an ATE one but does anyone know any more info on the booster itself/what car it is for/part number etc??
I have the booster relocation kit for under the dash but dry fitting it the other day with the standard e30 booster, i will need to chop way too much glovebox and it will hang fairly low down to the foot well. The standard booster has a 11"OD/10" diaphragm. I believe the "miniture" Ergen Motorsport boosters they were selling were 7" but that's it.
Oh and Ergen Motorsport no longer exists so can't find out anything there/purchase.
thanks in advance guys

Hi there,
If anyone is having the same issue as the guy who posted last. Replacing the Ergen booster. You can bolt in an e90 booster and master. Fits lovely with great pedal feel. Also mine cost me all in £26. Bargin.
Just to add had nothing but problems with the parts I got from Ergen, not suprised they not longer exist.

The 'minature' servo Ergan used to supply was from an early VW, Mk1 Golf possibly. Old old design and personally id always look to use more modern parts, ive done direct comparison between Mk2 Golf and 2001 Clio on the same car and its a big difference so if you can get an E90 servo in there thats what id be doing
This is my engine bay.
I didn't want to use e34 stuff and have servo behind headlight with all thr brackets and linkages etc because it looks busy and naff in my opinion. Not to mention the extra brake bars and pivots that could be extra areas that could flex or fail . So I chose the servo behind glive box option
