We've got my mother-in-law living with us at the moment (trapped by coronavirus travel bans). She had been living about an hour north of Marbella and speaks most days to her friends in the village - full on lockdown for them - zero movement. Not like the "lockdown" we had in Sydney where you could still go and buy a coffee, get your haircut, go shopping, etc.Ukhozi wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 12:02 pmHere in Marbella we have just been told we are NOT going from zero to stage one, something to do with ICU capacity in Malaga but hope to do so this coming Monday, then I can venture out to my 'shed' 40 minuets away and crack on with the E20 crash job.
Spain has the strictest lockdown in Europe backed up by armed police and troops so don't complain about the soft UK cops, they are pussies compared to ours who are not afraid of "upsetting the public", At the moment I am only allowed out at certain times in my age group, no more than 1 hour and 1 kilometer from home, apart from local shopping trip. one a day. From what I see in the media the UK is way too lax, this shit kills, badly.

I can just imagine how Corbyn and Abbott would have handled this,
What I mean is the mass redundancies and companies going bust, Happy New Year......

We here in Spain, Andalusia, have only just entered phase 2 (on Monday) but already a LOT of people are not following the regulations, which are NOT SUGGESTIONS here and we face the real possibility of regression to stages 1 or even 0 as numbers ARE going up again. some people are so bloody stupid!

Haven't been any posts on this thread lately, which is surprising considering it's the one thing affecting all our lives at the moment.
Anyway, how are the vaccinations going? Mrs (CEV group) got hers two days ago, and I'm booked in for next Thursday

Its become the norm for the time being so I assume you just need to get on with it, the Budget in March will be interesting and for how long can the Furlough scheme be extended for as at the end of the day the monies will need to be paid back one way or another.Brianmoooore wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 9:46 pmHaven't been any posts on this thread lately, which is surprising considering it's the one thing affecting all our lives at the moment.

I had my first jab about 3weeks ago due to being in the cev/shielding group,
Only "side effects" inhad were a sore arm for a few days & feeling a little groggy.
Buy seeing as on the news last night that the alert level has been lowered from 5 too 4 gives a glimmer of hope that things might start to return to some sort of normality soon.

It has been a total shit storm. I get a UK state pension for the past 10 years and my Danish wife, 'The Viking', gets 450€ SS from Spain BUT it is just enough to pay the rent, 775€, electricity 100 €+-, Phone, (TV mobile,) 95€, Garage/storeroom rent 145€ and food. but all the part time work has dried up so about 300€ a month down,
Sunday flea market gone so another 150€ gone.
Today I find out the wife's SS has ended as she is now 65 but the pension age has been raised to 66, so we starve for a year?
Travel restrictions are being lifted this weekend but we have had 6 weeks locked into our municipality unable to go outside Estepona and my garage/workshop is the other side of Marbella so Have been unable to get to my kit car to work on it or do small repairs for friends and neighbours so more income lost, (a pair of front axle CV joints for a '98 Honda Civic have been sitting on the side for a month.
Clutch on A170 gone so it just sits there and now the E30 auto is loosing drive when hot. and NO money at all. If I drank and smoked I could stop and save but I don't do either nor go out to eat or socialise.
Trying to sell off anything we are not wearing or using but due to the hardships no one is buying much.

All comments by me should be taken in the right sprite, Jack Daniels is fine.
Just got back from having mine today.
If you are over 60 you can apply for it
What is a "Furlough scheme"????
The BBC insist everyone is at home and not working for the third time , apart from redundancy , I have never stopped at all and neither has my wife too !!
The roads are still as busy as they were last summer.
The key Health workers have been recognised and rightly so ,but what about all the retail staff , like my wife, who were not given a choice but to carry on working ??
I wonder how many people are actually on furlough for the third time ?

Wife's just over two weeks post jab now, so protection level should be ramping up nicely by now. Mine was eight days ago, so the T cells should just be getting the idea that something's up.
Neither of us had any reaction, other than a slightly aching arm at the injection site for a couple of days. The injection itself was absolutely sensationless, and if I hadn't been looking, I wouldn't have known it had happened.

When I remember that my Mother and her family where taken at gunpoint by the NKVD and stuck in a cattle truck with a hole in the floor as a toilet and a heater in the corner and the dead bodies where thrown out to the side by the guards on the way to a death camp in Siberia I straighten my crown and think to myself "its not too bad" to be honest.steve_k wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 3:10 pmNo worries, martauto wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 12:24 pmJust having a laugh Steve, I would like to know how much of the population are actually still working and not sat at home like the BBC would like to think they are ?steve_k wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 5:56 pmhere you go mart.

Had a reaction yesterday, felt fatigued, tired and cold. Went to bed early but could not fall asleep so today aching and feeling tired. If you do get the vaccine read the leaflet they give you so you are aware of what may happen.
I have been feeling like I have not taken my pain killers and have been very tired but so far ............fingers crossed
Oh and a big up for all the guys who have been working through all this no matter what their job is

I have been working right through as a Train Maintainer, first lockdown the roads were empty on my commute but after October last year it's as busy as ever, the latest lockdown has definitely not been headed by as many people as the first was.
