I hope you are all keeping well and safe from this new disease. As long as we are being sensible, we should be okay....

How are things affecting people - apart from the toilet roll shortages?! Is everyone working from home, or forced to cut hours etc?

It's a very difficult time for many.

Stay safe.

All safe and well here for now thanks
I am an engineer so home working is out for me.
My wife was working at the local ASDA today and the sheer greed of so many people is pathetic
I called at the local shop for my medicine ( ) and although he had plenty in, there were people buying goods over and above what they needed and talking to other customers how and where they could buy certain items. :wan: :wan:
It WILL settle down and I really hope these people are left with a shit load of out of date stock and massive credit card bills.
Don`t get me going winkeye

The pure selfish greed is amazing! We went to the supermarket for our usual weekly shop and it was a little disturbing.

Fruit and veg - sparse. No bananas. No fresh chicken at all, other meats, sparse. No pasta at all, no bread, no kitchen or toilet roll, no bleach. WTF are people doing with the toilet rolls. Covid-19 isn't known to cause the shits!

it really is getting beyond the joke,

no matter when you turn the tv on the news just keeps scaremongering about it, going on about how many have died world wide from it (8K+) but absolutely no mention of how many have recovered from it worldwide (83K+)

according to my GP i'm in the at risk group due to having multiple lung conditions & 2 heart conditions & i should self isolate as best i can, well i'll try but i can make any promises.

what gets me is my sons mums partner is claiming he's self isolating yet he's still in the house with her & the kids, yet knowing him he wont have it he'll just use it as an excuse to sit on his arse & do nothing like he always does,

saw the news earlier that the schools will be closed as of friday yet no one knows how long for,
god only knows what this will do to the country's economy.

all we can do is hope for the best & it passes quickly.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.
getting oral sex off an ugly person is like rock climbing.....don't look down ;)

I work for a small specialist engineering company and it was said today that we have an extra ten days paid holidays to be used in conjunction with the virus ,ie child care , self isolation or contracting it ourselves.
I thought that was pretty good ?
The parent company is Fastenal .

I now have all the time I need for my e30 but as no wage coming in there’s not much I can do. Family need feeding first, although I do have a little stock pile of parts that could be fitted. 😜

Subaru, filled with V Power, Lotus filled and half emptied in one day need to refill tomorrow, Jerry can full as is the second one in the shed and the 10 litre, need to test the generator.

I remember Poland under rationing and how hard fuel was to come by.

Anyways, the 80% payment of wages up the £25k according to a "friend" who works on Governmental contracts is to reduce the chances of riots once people run out of money and can't afford cigs beer and their sky subs then food......... interesting times ahead and I bet you once its all over we will be taxed and VAT'd to the hilt to pay it all back.

So we are still in lockdown guys, I'm still out working and I feel lucky to be doing so in all honesty. I bet some of you are going nuts being told to stay at home all day. This current situation is terrifying though to say the least, and in many ways not just from a health perspective.

Main thing is everyone is staying safe and well, but are we seeing cracks starting to appear already? Amongst all the confusion of our current predicament people are starting to visit their local hospitals and strangely finding them very quiet. They are all over social media under #filmyourhospital

So what do we make of it? Do we trust the mainstream media and what they are telling us? Is it just the calm before the storm? A news channel in America has already been called out for using footage of an Italian hospital and trying to pass it off as New York.

One other thing I found interesting is that the Spanish Flu was not so deadly on the first wave, and if you got it then you would have immunity. It was the second wave that was deadly. What's your opinions now we are a couple of weeks into the lockdown?

Well as my wife works in one of those (thankfully) quiet hospitals where people who have no need of 'emergency' treatment are finally getting the message and staying away.

The hospitals need to be quiet outside of critical care - that is taking all the capacity

They are still 'peaks' in capacity where they are having to decide who gets the life-saving care. Someone is taken out of intensive care and allowed to die because a patient with better chances comes through the door needing that bed. Vacant beds elsewhere are not always of any use with this illness.

We are still weeks away from the peak when these decisions will be coming thick and fast and I would wish this situation on no-one including those that have to make the decision.

Having contracted SARS in 2003 in I have seen this type of thing from the other side too. You give an inch here it will take miles

It is not helpful when people start to second guess what is happening and think they know better. I only hope this is overkill.

Does this not highlight just how many people go to doctors and hospitals for the most pathetic of reasons. Oh I’ve cut my finger, why do people go to er to get a nurse to clean it and put a patch on. Simplified I know but you get my point

I broke my hand three years ago on a Saturday afternoon but waited until the Sunday lunch time to go to A&E.
In and out within the hour and the nurse said I was the first person who was not pissed she had helped in what was the last hour of her 13 hour shift !!
I understand with children you can`t be too careful but when certain large companies call out for an ambulance "as protocol" and many doctors surgeries also give the blanket call of go to A&E when they know they could deal with it .I know they are very busy but A&E is exactly what it means and should not be used any old how.
Let`s hope this may change.

Sooooo the furlough scheme extended until October, I think a lot of people have gotten used to sitting around at home even on an 80% salary and aren't keen to get back to work, wonder how they will feel when the companies go bust and their payments end.

And Christ we are all going to be paying for this in the years to come, it's going to be brutal.

Thoughts?

One lad has tested positive so we are closed and a deep clean/disinfect is taking place. We all have had to have a test today but are expected back in the morning !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Until we ALL know the results I will NOT be going to work, What is the bloody point in testing us all if we are back at work with no results ????
NOT happy!!!!!

We've now had a couple of days of zero new cases in NSW (Australia). It's been strange times - I'm working from home, wife was put on indefinite unpaid leave before picking up work for the government coronavirus hotline (which never went live). But overall it feels like we've got off very lightly. Looking at the UK from overseas, it seems you guys are in the middle of an absolute shambles.

Here in Marbella we have just been told we are NOT going from zero to stage one, something to do with ICU capacity in Malaga but hope to do so this coming Monday, then I can venture out to my 'shed' 40 minuets away and crack on with the E20 crash job.
Spain has the strictest lockdown in Europe backed up by armed police and troops so don't complain about the soft UK cops, they are pussies compared to ours who are not afraid of "upsetting the public", At the moment I am only allowed out at certain times in my age group, no more than 1 hour and 1 kilometer from home, apart from local shopping trip. one a day. From what I see in the media the UK is way too lax, this shit kills, badly.
Everyone has the right to reach the level of their own incompetence.

The media in our country are all too ready to slag off , destroy and put down situations than to help !!
