hey all, ive got an m40 with a leaking oil filter housing, its the metal type that uses one o-ring and i was thinking while ive got it off is it worth changing to the later e36/46 filter housing? they seem to be the same but the later one uses plastic bit with two o-rings instead.
not really sure if its an upgrade or downgrade but since ill be replacing all the o-rings, that plastic round bit (#4) and the gasket anyway an extra $8 for the later housing from a junkyard it could be worth it?

e46:
just looking for any opinions/experience with both designs
also not sure if this is the correct place to be posting it... any help would be appreciated
thanks!

I have had three out of my three e46 cars needed to change the oil filter housing gasket but that was after 80k or so , no big job either.
