Good evening all,

A few years ago I fitted an after market remote system for the central locking. This working fine for a while, but then became intermittent and eventually stopped working completely. All it did then was slowly drain my battery while my E30 was in the garage.

So, when I recently had the dash out I thought I would remove the remote system, this I did and it was quite easy to identify where the remote wires had been spliced into the existing loom. But, I am now left with a central locking system that does not work at all. Could someone give me a little guidance on how to troubleshoot this and/or where to start looking for the problem?

Thanks very much.

Did it work using the key in the lock before you removed the remote system?

Find the two E30 loom wires which the remote system lock and unlock request wires were spliced into (the ones you removed) - they should be green/blue and yellow/blue, and use a piece of wire to briefly earth each one in turn. This should lock and unlock the car.
