Thermostat question

Hi, I bought a new thermostat which is a Meyle item and is labelled 71 degrees C, the old one was 80 degrees C. Is this an issue?
(325i 1986)

Realoem part number is 11531710953 (but says 80CEL) and part number on the Meyle box is the same????

325i should have an 82 degree thermostat.

Will it make any difference to the running of the car?

Merle show two for the 325i, 71 degrees & 80 degrees.
It needs the 80 degree stat. Why don't you exchange it for the correct one and avoid any doubt.
There is no way on Gods earth I'd be running an incorrectly rated stat in my 325i.

Thanks, I returned it. I asked for a replacement, but they just offered a refund instead.

Why are you not buying from BMW parts? they are an inexpensive item, you could have had it fitted by now.
