Can I fit an ews ring to my e30 ignition barrel?
If so, how?
Thanks

The ring won't clip to the barrel, but you can modify/cut the column shroud so the ring sits in the right place.
There was pictures on here of how I did mine, but it was so long ago I don't know where or what thread they are in.

Does the E30 ring need to come off?

Ah gotcha. No pretty sure I left mine as it was, the EWS ring just sits over it. Cut a slot in the shroud for the little plastic rectangular bit to pass through (with the wires) and you might need to dremel part of the shroud to follow the curve of the ring - just do a little at a time until the ring will then hold itself in place.
I'll look for some pics when I get home.

Now I look back at the pic, there is a small ring that comes off from the shroud when you cut the slot for the wire - you can see the gap around barrel.
On the vertical opposite the slot is where you'll need to dremel the shroud to follow the curve of the ring. It's not much and if you do it in small stages you can get a tight fit so the EWS ring is held in place.

Thanks, for digging that out.
My ring is from an E39 and it looks like the e30 ring needs to be removed to have any chance of fitting.
Do you have a picture of it fitted?
