Does anyone know what colour Alpina used for their e30 wheels?

mine are in need of some TLC

im guessing it might be better to refurb my caps repaint with new o-rings and badge rather than get new ones if i cant get a perfect match on the paint as around these parts it might be hard

cheers

Did they use Polaris silver, same as BMW did on their wheels at that time? My Hartges were painted Polaris, I didn't have the caps painted and you can't see a difference.

was considering new caps but it would be pointless without exact paint i guess, so yeah the caps would likely get done along with new o-rings and centre badges

it is supposedly brighter than the BMW wheels, i heard was sparkle silver from wurth maybe (unconfirmed)but all i see is wurth silver wheel paint online

I'm about to get mine done at Lepsons (best place IMO).

They say they do not 'refurb' centre caps, just prep it and paint it - so if it's badly corroded, chipped or damaged they won't / can't repair it as new.

There will be a colour difference if you go with caps new tho - so it's a bit of a dilemma.

You can always repair / prep the caps yourself, then hand them over with the wheels.

Also need the correct Alpina paint details for mine.

Ive had a few sets of E30 Alpina's done bye Lepsons and even rough caps have come back fine.

Also, the colour is straight silver you want. Not the sparkle silver as used on later Alpina wheels.

inside is corroded and a bit crusty, outside is scratched and scuffed, could likely be salvaged for less than new assuming you can still get the centre badges etc separately. are the centre badges/emblem just self adhesive?

you can still get everything separate, they're expensive but not totally silly money. You won't get the old centre badges out without damaging them. If the surface of the caps isn't corroded badly like some end up here then refurb them!

You can get the wheel badges out of the caps, by heating the back of the plate gently, and using a sharp edge to prise out the badge...........don't over heat it though.
i've done it on mine, time consuming, but if you can save the badge.......

Useful tip.

I just ordered a set of badges, key caps and a lock set from Cotswold - let's see how the price compares.

I'm expecting the thicker set enamel / resin badges not a sticker.

That's not what I paid.

But don't think I ordered the main bug O-Rings. Mine are still fine.
