i wouldnt got the dual head gasket route, if you bottom en is solid with a good c/r a low boost aplication will work well.

The CR's pretty low on these engines anyway so no need to muck about with lots of gaskets
Fozzymonster's running about 13psi on a stock bottom end
The choice of ECUs is endless, Megasquirt's nice and cheap plus has some cool functions like AFR tables, Emerald's got good backup and it pretty easy to install and use (not that MS isn't!)

Money is first issue, the getting the right parts too, although I'm sure you could buy pretty much all you require of the shelf these days.
Jon-bmw is using the TD manifold so ask him for his opinion on that, MS & emerald do the same job but need vastly different amounts of technical knowledge to get them to work right, MS is certainly a learning experiance, having seen emerald in action I can see where all the extra money has been spent, much more user friendly.
I'm hopeing for 1 bar on my setup, poss by the end of the month and certainly before 25th March......then bigger turbo, exhaust and the new "boost ready" head goes on and I'll see how 1.5bar feels!!
Make sure you read through the "update" thread and tobys "m30 turbo" thread, I'm sure you'll find all the info you could ever need.
And good luck too
Mark.
