I just repalced one on my 320i, which apparently has a 2.5litre head on it (still not verified).
I found the easiest way was to discconect the injector wiring rail and move it towards the bulk head. I had to disconnect the breather pipe from the cylnder head to do this.
Then disconnect both the blue sensor and the brown sensor (temperature gauge). Then you should be able to get a socket on top of the sensor. It is a 19mm deep socket you need, but i used the large spark plug socket i have.
Just remove the old one and put the new one in. Believe me, if your old one is nackered the end result is worth it!!!!!!
