Really getting pissed off with my diamondschwartz paint work.. such a pain in the arse to keep nice.

The main problem is the swirl marks. I can spend a whole afternoon polishing and waxing with poor boys and so on.. it'll look really nice.. but then give it a week later, all I'm seeing are imperfections and swirl marks again.

Really messes with the motivation! Makes me want to chuck it all in and get one in silver

I never did get your old thermostat housing in the agreed swap for the refurbished one...

I sent you a message saying I had found you the correct housing and never got a response...

I never got an answer from you about the leather seat backs...

You had said you were going to get me to detail your car for you back in Feb / March...

I would say that its karma!!!!!!

Haha sorry mate! I'm rubbish at replying, hence why my messages come with a few days interval..Things have been manic.. Life takes a hold! I haven't been around west London ways since early March.. And I haven't touched my cooling system since Feb!

I do have the intentions, I'll just end up surprising you one day when I put you on the spot with a couple of days notice.. That'll probably be when you tell me to fuck off

If you have swirl marks, all poor boys black hole or similar will do is fill them in temporary.

Your paint obviously correcting then maintaining correctly.

Clay bar it, 3000 grit with soapy water and then mop it with T Cut. Job done. I did the a bit of the roof on my track slag that had some horrific bird shit marks and it's like glass.

@ Mitchen

No worries... Any time is good...

As mentioned, you get some good "filler" waxes but it will be temporary...

Thanks Gav.. It's crying out for a rotary polish, so will be in touch at some stage.

Kos I'm using Maguiar's liquid wax... very easy to apply.. but I'm not seeing the results that I used to get from AG HD wax, even though that did used to take me forever to apply.

Barry, I knew it was temporary but thought it'd be protected and look good for at least a few weeks... all I'm getting is a week to 10 days, before it looks like nothing's been applied!

that liquid wax doesn't like to bond to poorboys products. get back on the AG HD wax, add a couple of layers and then give it final wipe down with a QD. if you are feeling flush, buy some zaino Z8 and apply it after you wax it. give the wax a couple of hours to cure then apply it.

No problem, if you decide to do that to your own car...I just don't think that advising someone to wet sand and then use T-Cut is the best solution...

I fucking hate black cars!!!

When Barry first got the sapphire black 530 sport in I told him I didn't want it. I then gave I and bought it about 10 months later. Then spent the next 2 years trying to keep the cunt nice!!!!!

Why?
Because most people will fuck their cars.

I'd never recommend wet sanding any paint expecislly if they have never used a DA let alone a rotary

Paint & clear coat thickness and hardness varies from car to car and even from panel to panel...

Without a paint thickness gauge anybody that is wet sanding is taking a massive risk of ruining their paint work...the same can be said about using a rotary polisher...

Well today I done as Kos suggested...

Pressure wash..
Snow foam...
2 bucket wash..
Pressure wash..
Clay mit...
Blackhole polish
2 layers of AG HD
Topped off with some Zaino Z8..

Very impressed with the results.. although my body's fucked.

Not sure what to make of the Z8. Good product, but the hype I read about it seems OTT.. I wasn't blown away like I was supposed to be.. I would compare it to the normal results I get from AG rapid detailer.

But I'm over the moon with how it all turned out.. no more swirl marks for now :)

Well I feel properly lazy, I too hate washing & polishing cars, there was a time i'd happily spend days doing it, now it's chore.

I did wash the wifes Audi earlier, 15 minutes was more than enough time, it's clean and shines a bit now.

The Tranist used to get washed once a year :o: even then, it was a quick going over with a bucket of water and a broom.

Anyone else the same? I'm not a lazy person by any means, I just really dislike the job now.

I've all but given up on the whole cleaning/polishing thing too, it's more or less a waste of time. It looks great when it's finished but the next time you go to the car it's covered in sap, pollen, general city dust and you can gaurantee the next rain is never more than a few days away :(

To get the full benefit of Z8 with diamond black the paint really needs to be in good condition.

Also, did you allow the wax to cure before applying the Z8?

I've not used HD wax before, I've always used Victoria's red concours wax which was recommended to me years ago for use on red or black cars.

Kos uses it on his E24 as well but I'm told its not as durable as other waxes.

The paint isn't in bad condition, just the swirls, which is endemic with most black cars.

I did let it cure but couldn't give it the full two hours as it was like 8pm at the time.. think I left it around 40-50 odd minutes.. that's probably the reason then.

When I said bad condition I meant the swirls.

Yes black cars show up swirls and other defects more than other colours but any paint is prone to it dependant on how the car is washed and protected.
