I don't understand the fuss surrounding the motorsport models. It's just a standard convertible with a bit of extra leather.

they attract a premium as they're limited edition but as you say, that's about it.

This.

You've got to admire BMW's marketing people who can get away with producing a "Motorsport" special at a premium price without bothering to do anything to the engine.

I bet the offspring of those same suckers who were buying these new in 1990 are now getting bent over for £500 a month for a 318d "M Sport"

agreed but not in a cabrio - bmw were not dumb. similarly Porsche detuned the cayman so as not to take 911 sales

You wouldn't feel a differece compared to another 325 with extras but it is a limited edition so will always hold it's value if kept well! I think it looks lovely
