hi, i've fitted a new clutch master cylinder on my 1985 320i e30, and i am having trouble getting a decent pedal. is there any weird way or sequence of pumps needed to build up the pressure? cheers scott

You can bleed the clutch with a one-man bleeder kit on the bleed nipple, or just keep pumping the clutch pedal with the lid off the reservoir.

I hope you changed the clutch slave cylinder at the same time, or you'll likely be changing that shortly after when it fails...

E30 can be very difficult to fill and bleed from dry.
The initial bleeding seems to fill the fluid with microscopic bubble, so leave it for twenty four hours to allow the bubbles to collect together into bigger ones that will come out with normal bleeding.

I've never really had problems bleeding BMW clutches.

But some clutches I've had to back bleed using the brakes.

A pipe from a brake bleed nipple to the slave nipple and pump the brakes.
