Heated Seats

is it possible to buy the heated seat stuff from anywhere? i bet its real expensive... if so is it possible to get one from another Bmw series and fit them to your seats.

I went for an aftermarket kit - Ãƒ”šÃ‚£40. Included everything & works a treat

It's a must-have in a cab...

You went for the waeco stuff after?

If you want heated seats, go for the kit from waeco, they don't list it on the site, you have to phone them, get the wiring loom and switches from the dealer, and you've got heated seats for less then Ãƒ”šÃ‚£100.

I think it was the waeco stuff like you recommended - I got it from eBay in the end though & it was a while ago! I just used their loom & switches too, but I'll get the proper BMW stuff at some point.

I wouldn't want to be without it though - on a cold morning like today I start the car & put the seats on, then when I've de-iced the windscreen they're nice & warm

Can't beat top down motoring on a sunny winters day with the heated seats keeping you toasty too!

Good stuff, worth getting the loom and switches for the factory look. Loom is Ãƒ”šÃ‚£30, and I 'think' the switches are about Ãƒ”šÃ‚£20 each.

While were on the subject of heated seats... why is my drivers seat a lot hotter the passenger seat? I think my girlfriend has been waring it out....

Oh yes they are lovely on a cold day, and heat up so quick!

Are they wired up OK? Did you fit the elements in different parts of the seat? Or like you say, maybe it's overused!!

wouldnt mind some in my cab bloody freezing at 5.30 in the morning going to work anyone got any pics ...do you have to strip the seats right down to install....how easy is it to do

Yes, you need to remove the centre sections of the seats to install the elements.
Wiring loom plugs into the box located above the glovebox, run down the centre console, cut some holes for the switches, and run the remainder of the wiring under the carpet and out in the hole under the seat.

si, do you use original loom or do you get one with it? and i take it i will also need the relay?

Personally, I'd buy the loom and switches from the dealer, but you can use the loom and switches that come with the kit if you wanted, no harm there, if you're using the standard loom, I believe they use the same reay as the electric roof..not sure about the cab, easy enough anyway, as apart from the wiring to the switches seats, the rest is already there, plug in a fuse (if there isn't one already fitted) and away you go.

I found a few kits on german e-bay for you so you can see what's included...

thankyou once again si, i think i'l go for the original loom and switch, one thing do you know if the swithces are the same on other models such as the 635csi.

Relay is K5, fuse is 16, and socket on the accessories panel is U, which is on the top row, 2nd from the right, just to the right of the 4 pin radio plug. Only problem that you might have, is that not all E30s have the brown/white wire from fuse 16 to the accesories socket fitted.
If fuse 16 has an outer terminal fitted, then the wire is there.

Ho poo. I was getting all excited there until i read about the centre consol and running wiring under the carpet bit. My seats are welded down so arent going nowhere. With everything trimmed, i cant just start cutting holes either. Ho well. Just as well i have my thermal underwear to keep me warm then

Something i've been considering since i got my leather seat, never expected it to be so cheap, i thought the switches were ment to be about Ãƒ”šÃ‚£70 on there own.

It doesn't matter where it goes, I just went for the easiest route, which is down the centre console, lots more room too.

i have never touched the elements and all the wiring is intacked.
Its not to hard to get at the elements is it? They might be dirty or positioned badly or something...
