I am in the process of gathering parts to carry out an M52 conversion on my 318iS.

I've had a good read through the main conversion wiki, but am still unsure which gear selector parts need to be replaced, and with exactly what? (future set up will be M52B28 > M20 Clutch/flywheel > 318iS gearbox > standard driveshaft > standard open diff (for now).

I am also planning to carry out the Z3 quick shift conversion at the same time.

Many thanks for any answers!

Hey dude, same set up as mine..
You will need a 325i Propshaft, as your iS one will not fit. You need the gear selector mech from a 320i. I did the Z3 shortshift too - Totally worth it!

Yeah the difference between 4 and 3 turns doesn't sound a lot, but everyone says its amazing. Cheers!

I'm also in the process of collecting parts for this swap, using the same gearbox and clutch setup as the OP.

Can someone explain why you need to use the 325 prop and 320 mech? Can't get my head round why you need to when you are keeping the original box.

My bits have arrived now.

I've not compared the drive shaft, but the m20 gear selector is a bit shorter.

I think the engine (therefore gearbox as well) sit a little further back in the car.

Gearbox mount fixing points are adjustable over several inches, to accommodate auto/manual gearbox for all available E30 engines.
