Its to do with that diff pipe you blanked off, the diffs on these have a hydraulic lock, hence the pipe

to make it act like an LSD? I've cut the sodding pipe. I wonder if i could refit the unit and just this pipe?

Have you been at the twin sunroofs yet ? Had a look at mine today. Front won't even turn manually so I'm assuming the motors goosed. Trying to find a smart way to drop the clutch nut from the rear motor without dropping the headlining.

I think what I could do is this, reconnect the diff pipe to the unit. Then the feed from the unit to the pas pump. But I'll need another sls pump! Then I could blank off the feeds from the hydro pump to the bombs. Might aswell keep the diff working as it should

I've sussed how i can reconnect the remander of the SLS system to get the diff locking again. I just need another SLS pump, opps

The C2 is ongoing, the head is at janspeed being worked on and the pistons are at my old mans machine shop. The rest of the engine is sitting in my garage waiting to go back together! I'm not worried about the rest until the engine is in and running. The stereo and wheel refurb etc can wait.

we all like a sh!theap now and then, this is my one enjoy homos!

The mrs should be greatful, instead of chasing and barebacking bitches or travelling around the world watching sorry c0cks kicking a ball about , she knows exactly where her Simey is. Underneath an E34 shooting break , for the foreseeable future :)

Wow, now that's a proper heroic turd! :D

The diff is a LSD, with clutch plates and everything. but it's odd! on a normal BMW LSD, the drive/torque applied to the diff applies a clamping force to the clutch plates to make them lock. On these the force is actually applied with a hollow hydraulic cylinder, fed by that pipe. The traction control senses wheelspin and locks the diff up to control it.

My vote: Whack a hydraulic handbrake somewhere in the boot and connect it to that pipe/the diff. Then you can have winter and summer modes with a simple pull on a lever! :cool:

I've changed the rear pitman arms, subframe bushes, discs, drum shoes and fitted the 540i saloon shocks with springs of unknown spec!

Doesn't sit too bad, not too low on the back i think. Theres only one lower spring pad listed for e34's unlike e30's where you can tweek the height. More importantly it doesn't drive like a double bed. It needs a ball joint on the front and suspension wise its ready

I'm tackling the fuel lines now, i'm just going to clean up and waxoyl the breather pipe.

hows this for two tone green?

Topblag, the double sunroofs all work ok. I've dropped both motors down and added lots of new grease into the worm drive, gears on the motors. I've also greased up the felt draught excluder around both roofs and the stainless steel runners. This has helped it all greatly and now they both move all correctly in every way you can imagine. Quite a feat they are!

I shall be doing the greasing of the cable and replacement sunroof motors.

I picked up a full working setup the other day. When I say full, it includes the full tray.

I had a bit of E34 moisture today - passed a garge with a white M reg 520i saloon in the front, base model with the flat face basic alloys. A week before I could have had it for 200 quid, but the customer has bitten the bullet for rear sub mounts and fuel pipes.

Weather permitting thursday friday this week for mig action, he made a nice job on the e36

I swapped the cruise control stalks,

This one is off an e32 and seems a bit saggy like, doesn't fall to hand its a million miles from the wiper stalk.

This has that horrid airbag wheel, am i right in thinking a "tech 3" wheel from and e36 M3 will fit? The nice one

wow, twas a labour intentsive job but both fuel lines changed. They come pre bent from BMW but often and in this case the parts men often add a few extra bends to the pipes to keep you on your toes. I'm hoping some gear on the breather pipe will keep the MOT man happy?

Is this the breather pipe that famously rusts? I guess someone has been kind as it was pretty good but a wire brush and some gear should keep it right. The bumper support however is in major trouble

Huge step forward now it feels with all the lines done, just windscreen, welding and ball joint for MOT. And bleed the brakes up with new fluid. V5 should be coming soon also - i've had a letter saying it would be done by the 28th at the latest and then allow 5 working days for the V5 to arrive.

The MOT tester will just class that breather pipe as a fuel pipe, so it could still fail, wire brush the coont and then brush some copper grease on 8)

Most kind! June would be best Pete! I've wire brushed it off and coated it in some gear. the important bit is the fuel feel and returns are new in my eyes?

I've had e30's in the past with breather pipes like this and new fuel feed/returns pass ok.

A corroded fuel pipe is only advisory assuming it's not leaking.

Best to give them a generous coating of dark lithium grease, perhaps with some dirt thrown on for good measure. :wink:

Depends how corroded. As with many testable items its down to the testers discretion.

Knowing Simons nit pick tester it will fail. :(

It says nothing in the manual about corroded fuel pipes.

To advise them on the MOT computer you would have to go into 'none component related advisorys'

I have a brand new E34 rear tank breather pipe. When it pin holes, it leaks and it wiull drop a LOT of fuel pretty quickly. Worth changing it wiuth the rear bumper off.

that breather pipe wrapped around the rear of the tank is tbh in really good condition, its much better than the breather pipe that runs with the fuel feed/return pipes.

Barry don't forget we've found a non hitler MOT man now :o Passed the e36 on friday with no advisorys!
