Authentic alpina 2.7 engine

As title says really.how can you tell if an alpina 2.7 engine is authentic.What about the ecu aswell.Will either have distinguishing features.

The ECU should have a red Alpina sticker on it, with the model/build number to match the dashboard plaque/chassis plate.

Speed touch is that located under the dashboard .the car in question is a replica. The owner claims all parts are genuine including engine and ecu.the pictures suggest it is but I'm useless with computers.its on another website.no engine pics tho.

Yes, the ECU should be in the normal place; just remove the trim panel below the steering column and look up.
It will probably just be a standard 0 261 200 173 ECU with an Alpina chip in it.

If the block is genuine it will have C2/ then the engine number stamped into it on a flat section of the block bottom on the inlet side.
As above but most of the original alpina 6 branches have rotted out by now and are long gone.alpina123 wrote:2.7 should also have a 6 branch and i know some c2.7 have black inlet manifolds and rocker covers dont know about the 2.5 though

ALL genuine 2.7 engines had dark grey inlets and rockers. The 4 digit head stamping are done by the man at buchloe who built it. The number on the block on a UK supplied car will read C2 2 then the last 7 digits of the chassis number of the car it was fitted to.
There is another flat section on the block below by the dipstick. Often a 4 digit stamping here also.

The ECU should also have a label with the last 7 digits of the chassis number on, so you could check that the numbers tally with those on the engine, to be doubly sure you're getting an Alpina setup.

Thanks for all the input guys.the vendor has sent me a few pics by email.sadly none of the engine or ecu.they are of the seats and various other pics like the wheels and stuff.basically the car is an alpina replica that the vendor claims is all transfered from the donor car.wheels and kit seem spot on.but the engine and ecu are my concern.the car has a btb 6 branch and he says he has a receipt. The car is advertised on car and classic.as you all know my skills on a computer are tragic.maybe one of you even knows the vehicle.theres not many that zoners don't know.

Look guys feel free to express your thoughts.i actually hope someone knows the car.i have an offer in mind if the engine and ecu are correct.if not I'll hold my folded.im no expert that's why I'm putting out the feelers

I would suggest you check the engine and ECU first, to be sure of what you're getting.

prove it, i'd bet money. I've NEVER seen a proper C2 2.7 or B3 2.7 that hasn't left Alpina like itRodderz wrote:Not all conversions have dark rocker covers or inlet manifolds!
