Hi mate,it will work out quite expensive to let a garage do the whole thing,if you can do any work on it your self like plumbing the cooling system up and wiring etc then it will save you quite a bit of dosh.BenE30 wrote:just after some general info! my old man owns a E34 535i and said that i could use the engine for a 335 conversion! i would not undergo the conversion myself i would use my local and very trusted BMW specialist, just a question how much can i steal of the E34 and transfer onto mine? he wants the car to share if we go ahead with the conversion, just wanted to know of the people who have done this conversion and how much has it cost them on a whole!!

I hope so.Geeman wrote:Usually, drivers and passengers can swap about as they please... as long as the driver is registered, they can drive anything. As long as the car is also registered, the driver can be any of the drivers that were at the briefing...
...I think.

Thanks for all the support guys!Andy335Touring wrote:Hi mate,it will work out quite expensive to let a garage do the whole thing,if you can do any work on it your self like plumbing the cooling system up and wiring etc then it will save you quite a bit of dosh.BenE30 wrote:just after some general info! my old man owns a E34 535i and said that i could use the engine for a 335 conversion! i would not undergo the conversion myself i would use my local and very trusted BMW specialist, just a question how much can i steal of the E34 and transfer onto mine? he wants the car to share if we go ahead with the conversion, just wanted to know of the people who have done this conversion and how much has it cost them on a whole!!

Is the E34 a manual ?
The engine mounts i used were bought from http://www.e30.de .They cost about 140 quid delivered. You could get the garage to make them up but it could cost you more in labour.
How much does your garage charge per hour ?
Start looking for that M3 prop as they are fairly hard to find i think ? If you can't find one you can get one made up out of the E30 and E34 props for about 145.
Other big cost's(depending what you use) are uprated suspension, exhaust,LSD dif(3.64 ratio is best) and an E28 535 rad is about 125 new.If you need a new clutch or just fancy changing it whilst its all in bits then thats 160.
Theres a few work in progress pictures of mine on this page

And heres Toby's web page

to be honest dude i think there is no difference on the road, as the 3.5s jst dont rev as well, 3.5 better low down and mid range, but 2.7 kills em at the top end i reckon. mine and andys (heavily modded 3.5) do similar gtech times but he's on tall diff, so this dont count really.M5pilot wrote:Andy,
what kind of figures is your car putting out with the emerald?
Karan, are the 335i's faster than your sport?

Cheers Toby, well i am really looking forward to doing this if i can get round to it!! thatnks for your help a list will be a big plus!!Toby_Unna wrote:manual![]()

you lucky sod!
when i have a minute, it might be next week as i'm off to amsterdam in a few hours (unnecessary information i know!) i'll write you a parts list to look out for, as you say much better to do it that way, my project was held up constantly because i was looking for bits like for prop.
for example you'll probably want a manual e28 m535i (single mass) flywheel...
do it!
Toby

3.5 is a fair conversion. your right about your car karen. it will keep up with a standard 335i.Karan wrote:to be honest dude i think there is no difference on the road, as the 3.5s jst dont rev as well, 3.5 better low down and mid range, but 2.7 kills em at the top end i reckon. mine and andys (heavily modded 3.5) do similar gtech times but he's on tall diff, so this dont count really.M5pilot wrote:Andy,

basically if it was my money id go 3.5 rather than spending shedloads on a 2.7 to be as fast
PLUS u can say ure packing a 3.5!!

If you don't mind me asking how much has zoom quoted you for the conversion? as i would like to have the money saved up first instead of bit by bit!shelle-smokeahama wrote:my e30 tourez is in as we speak bein done. i got john to do it a zoom motorsport. saves me doin it
