As it is Zone folklore that a M52 conversion can be done for £117.86 and a case of Stella, £90 sounds a bit strong

As Kos said, a pair of reasonably sharp scissors, a pen, and an old cornflakes packet or cardboard box should do the trick. (+ Half an hour of labour if an adult has to help.)

OP didn't ask for that, maybe they can do that themselves, but don't have the know how to do a v8 conversion.

As one bank of the V8 is going to sit just where the brake servo lives,serious thought needs to be given to the revised brake setup in this type of conversion,ergo,it must be considered when working out costs involved.

I suppose the OP could retain the original suspension to save a little cash....

See now this is what confuses me ... 11k in the real world will buy a very serious turd including the cars what you may use as a donor ?

6-7 k should see you in a B10 v8s or an E39 m5 ? Or an e46 m3 that is turnkey, They will hold residual value and pi55 all over a home made e30 v8!!

Don't get me wrong I love a fast car but ... It has to be financially viable !

Find me these £4k cars with similar spec please! I'll have one a week off you! The bodywork on my car is pretty decent as it happens, so I haven't needed to do much at all.

I've owned a few 11k + performance cars. They'll depreciate a grand a year without turning a wheel, so hardly a sound financial investment if that's what you're looking for.

So being "home made" must somehow knock a load of horsepower out of an engine? Or maybe it adds weight?

So to some extent the cost does not come into it,our various 'significant other's' usually are far happier knowing we are in the garage 'fiddling with that old car/heap of shite/thing of beauty' rather than us being down the pub and rolling home pissed every evening.....

as you say you can spend that sort of money on a m5 or a m3 but building these cars money is spent bit by bit not in one lump i dont think id ever have that sort of money in one go to go out and buy a car like an m5 and quite frankly i wouldnt anyway as dave says youll lose more money buying a newer car than an old one that gains money

id like to see a e39 m5 piss over mine or daves for that matter
