096 FOR any E30. With the extra electrics most E30s have on them, the extra capacity is nice to have.

Bump on this
Need a battery myself, so its an 096 type , but what AH and CCA size is needed ? Or is it a case of the more the better ?
Anyone know best place to buy from ? Is Bosch the one to go for ? S3 or s4 ?

There's Bosch 70-640 for £59, or 74/680 for £10 more ? Can't see a 72

Grr the wiki says 72 640 , but nothing about if a 74/680 can be used or not ? Does it make any difference or does it mean its the same just a bit more powerful ?polsta wrote:There's Bosch 70-640 for £59, or 74/680 for £10 more ? Can't see a 72

The wiki says 680. You've found a battery that has 680. I'm not sure what the issue is here.

Nah, unfortuantely those two extra amps will cause your alternator to explode and the engine bay to be engulfed in flames. You'll have to keep looking
In all seriousness, you don't have to get batteries absolutely perfectly matched.

You can use any battery that puts the terminals in reach of the leads that physically fits and can be secured in the battery position!
If you want one that will start the car after you've left the lights on overnight, or parked up for a couple of hours with the radio on, then fit an 096.
