Hold on rich I thought you we're gonna prove the 36 ones don't fit the 30, not that the 30 ones fit the 30
Rich I used to feel sorry for you. Now I'm sorry for you

I have been using E36 bushes in E30s for many years. In fact, I ONLY fit E36 M3 concentric bushes in standard non 'motorsport' E30s and have done for nigh on twenty years and have never had an issue , not that I would expect one as they are dimensionally EXACTLY the same .
I have known a few people have issues using the Powerflex type bushes but as I never liked the look of how they are fitted and the original bushes are so cheap, I have never used them.

Sorry I missed this up until now...steve_k wrote:Easy? Or hard? Never used on beforeG-Bear wrote:I used a bearing puller to get my old bushes off the wishbones.steve_k wrote:is it possible to use a two leg bearing puller to remove the old brackets from the wish bone??
No its very straight forward. Get the pullers round the edges of the lollipop and wind the threaded stud of the puller onto the control arm in the center of the bushes.. There's a pic in the link below which helps explain..

I should imagine its not good for the bushes itself, but you'd be pulling them off top bin them anyway...
The job of getting the actual bushes out of the lollipops takes a bit more effort... I think I went through a similar process as below..

Getting new bushes in the lollipops, I got so far using a vise, but ended up taking them to a mechanic up the road who had a 20ton press.
Then for getting them back onto the control arms, I got some threaded bar, nuts, washers and a bit of steel, to make this....

You must work fast G Bear I thought the car had to be back on its wheels in 20 minutes for the bushes to settle in the correct position on the wishbones.
If E30 bushes are 1mm bigger than an E36 bush, I'd fooking hate to try fit an E30 bush into the lolipops as the E36 ones are a tight fit as they are.
1mm is a big difference in something that's a press fit and you'd know it pretty quickly if it was true.
I've been fitting E36 Eccentric bushes to loads of E30s as they are cheaper than E30 M3 ones if buying from the dealers. I also fitted E30 M3 ones for others that supplied bushes and to one of my own car years ago before and there was no difference whatsover that I could see.

M42 rightness above 6500rpm, nobody can hear you scream
E36 and E30 wishbone bushes are dimensionally identical externally and internally.
End of.
End of.
Yes I read that once or twice.. after changing them. The car certainly wasn't back on the ground 20 minutes after. I think it remained on axle stands for a while whilst I changed a few other bits.broadie wrote:

Oh well they were cheap bushes that aren't staying in too long, they were more to get the car back on the road fast at the time.
