I have had all manner of conti's on RWD cars including the 5P's on my E46 M3 and never found them hard.
Infact, they have only lasted about 12k.

+1 for the TOYOSharry_p wrote:Toyos every time.
I've been really disappointed with the last couple of sets of falkens, which didn't last any longer, and had considerably less grip than toyos.
It has to be T1-R though, the T1-sport isn't a patch on it.
Our mk2 golf gti, e30 m3 and e36 m3 all run t1-r all round as they offer the best grip / life / price compromise I've found.

I said I'd never buy Toyos again after they kept spinning up on the M25 in the rain.
They were by no means illegal 3mm left, but at 50mph in my 320d tourer they kept stepping out. Scary as hell!
I've had various falkens on various cars and wheels, and can say they are by far and away a better all round tyre.
But now I'm running Continentals on most wheels

I just googled the tyre size you want bss and a place called tyre traders has Pirelli p zero coming up @ £ 236. I don't know if that's per tyre or for 2. Check it out.

For my two cents:
I've just finished my second pair of rear T1R's on my daily 328i. Both have lasted about 11k miles and I've had no complaints on a price/value basis. They more than coped with my occasional moments of open diff hooliganism.
Never run the Falkens, they've always been on the short list, but never made the cut. Would be interested to see which you choose Barry.

If it was the FK452 (or it's successor) I'd be going for that, but I'd definitely go for the Toyo T1-R over the ZE912

Toyos = a bit wild. Good tyres, but the e21 is a 316 which had probably 75bhp when it last ran, and i had a few scary moments in it...god knows what itd be like with more power like your cars. I wanna try falkens next....they handle my mates 323 E46 with his insanity

IMO the Toyo's are better, softer compound but wear quicker.. Maybe because they grip well?bss325i wrote:I'm swaying toward toyo to be honest.
I have a few oh-shit moments with falkens in damp/cold weather they are quite hard, and let go when pushed.. never ever had that with toyo's

The toyos are over rated and are best suited to lighter cars I'm my experience
I've run falkens for the last 10 years with no real problems at all except they don't like cold damp roads. No summer tyre does to be honest
But in the last few years I've been running goodyears (F1 asymetrics) and they make most tyres feel like ditch finders in the rain
Anyway, both tyre options you have are evenly matched. Let's be honest the car won't be driven much an never in raid lol
on a personal point of view an asymetric tyre patterns on an older BMW has more of a period look to it than the modern V patterns

Are these going on your sport, Barry, or a cabby?
Like my trainers, I like a tyre with a good tread pattern. Toyos have it for me

The touring has Toyo's Barry, personally I think they are rubbish, soft sidewalls, they make the back end feel wayward in my opinion. I would try the Falkens, do Kumho make anything.

From my sport thread...
bss325i wrote:Hell yeah!Blitz wrote:15" BBS RS? Are you going staggered 205/55 front 225/50 rear?Proper 80's chunky look, none of his stretched, poke and gape nonsense!
They are BBS RS001's no less, the correct 15x7 ET25 size for an E30!
The rears are going an inch wider and the fronts 1/2 inch so 15x7.5 and 15x8. The ET changes as well but can't remember of the top of my head what it is but works out fine.
Tyres will be 205/55 and 225/50. If you thought 205/55's were hard to find in a decent brand, 225/50's are 10 times worse!![]()
From what I have found out only mk2 MR2's and Lamborghini countach front tyres used 225/50/15.![]()
Will look something like this as the white car is running the wheel and tyre sizes I'm going for and is a similar height to mine.

Hardly. That's how they looked back when new, none of this stretched, gape, undersized nonsense.
The front size is standard and the rear a touch wider.
You telling me all E30's with the OE 205/55/15 look like dragsters?
