Need to replace my front shocks but don't know what size I need, it's a m20b25 convertible 1989. I thought it would be the 51mm insert?? Thanks in advance

no worries,
if you're having trouble removing the old collar from the top of the shock , cut a small notch in the collar with a grinder/hacksaw. Then place it in a vice , put your chisel/crappy screwdriver in the notch and smash it with a hammer - job done
oil should be in the base of the old leg, so be careful when you remove it
replace the oil if you are using a standard damper, it helps aids cooling and stops it sticking
if you are using a gas dampers no oil is required

Gas dampers also use oil for damping, and a bit of neat antifreeze is very good for transferring heat from the dampers to the strut body. Best tool for getting the collars off without butchery is Stilsons and a trolley jack handle.

Thats good advice, Not recommended, but I only way I got the collar nuts, undone by using welding gas, what a PITA to get undone that was!!jimmyspeed wrote:no worries,
