firstly whats your budget ?
Because I bought a car cheap that's already got a b20 in and it's been de comped already, also the drain for the oil return is already in the sump. So it's easy, when it pops it will be b25. Really don't want to spend anymore than 300-500.

for that sort of money it will either be a new megasquirt or vems unit, i can't think of many ecu's for that price really, great at keeping the cost down and there are tonnes of good results and support for the megasquirt online-
if you can stretch your budget or buy second hand alot of others are available
- Emerald based in kent has a good reputation especially if you take it there for tuning, best features i think is the inbuilt igniters and user-friendliness and you get them on ebay frequently
Omex you will need the 710, expensive but a well known brand a few zoners have them some on s14's
Link g4 well built from newzealand? have only heard good things but expensive
Haltech . another user friendly system from Australia
Adaptronic 420d - what i will be going for , built in map sensor
AEM - you have to go for a higher spec because of the amount of cylinder - american
Motec - very good/very expensive
Autonic - high end ausie unit
best to take a look at them and see which is best for your setup.

ecu master EMU.... 10x better than megasquirt! and really well priced, used them on a few m20's now and cant fault it, directly reads the triger etc, nothing additional needed
from Poland, does EVERYTHING incl knock and wideband cheaper than all the ones above

you can use the bmw coolant temp sensor (blue one) you'll need a seperate iat sensor and you can still use the crank trigger sensor depends how your going to run it eg wasted spark or from a coil if you go wasted spark you can do away with the front dizzy and run coil packs but then the ecu will need coil drivers put in as a mod unless you get coil packs which already have drivers built in
I used a coil pack from a v6 omega

so in that case then you'll need 3 coil drivers adding to the ecu as one coil driver drives 2 sparks only extra sensor you'll need is a iat sensor then you can ditch your air box and air flow meter

again that depends how you buy it you can buy ms in kit form which is cheaper and you build it yourself while learning how it works or you can buy a built one which will be more money I can put you in touch with a guy that builds them and can do the modifications for you if you don't want to
there's different models of ms too ms1 ms2 with different board variations and there's the new ms3 which I think is all surface mounted
