came to a bit of a standstill today,
i dont know how the weather was on everyones part of the country but the winds down here were crazy!
i jumped in the beast and tidied up the interior wiring / ground back the rust on the inside corners and there is nothing to report! nice and clean and ready for the Fertan i ordered today
Then it started raining and with a hood as badly split as mine that was my que to cover her up again untill tomorrow (hopefully)

Those screws were probably for the brake disc - some lazy/forgetful mechanic probably put them there then forgot to put them back in the hub.

Firstly, they are not brake disc bolts, E30 ones are 5mm hex not cross head.Cypriotgeeza wrote:Probably! I wonder how long they have been there lolSpeedtouch wrote:

Secondly, why on earth would a "lazy mechanic" put them under the carpet?

Under the carpet is what baffles me..unless the carpet was out previously but there was no evidence to suggest it ever was

My guess is is that they are something to do with the audio equipment. The electric aerial (of which that red/white wiring is for) comes with brackets and similar screws.
They may have been left over when the aerial was fitted and somehow ended up under the carpet as the wring for the aerial passes underneath from the head unit to the boot.

You generally put the Schutz on prior to applying Waxoyl!

We used to underseal the japanese imports on my previous job and that used to protect them so well! Ive never used waxoyl before
Obviously cant compare a 23yr old E30 with a fresh jap import but i was thinking of the same result.. lol

Well, the Schutz is a hard surface protective covering, whereas Waxoyl is as the name suggests, an oily wax, that remains fairly 'liquid'.
If you were to put the Waxoyl on first, the Schutz would probably all peel off within a matter of days, like applying paint to a greasy surface.

shultz is ok for the right use, with all thse sort of products you have to ensure you use each one properly, remember waxoyl is a temporay/wear out sort of product that you renew when needed, and dont put anything on top of it
the fertan- before goign gun ho, give it a little test to see how it works, on something rusty like a really old rusty tool or something, brush a small bit on to the rust and leave it 24 hrs

Indeed. Schutz is normally used on 'high impact' areas, such as sills and inner wheelarches, as it gives good stonechip protection.

That black schutz shite is for spraying over welded on patches on old scrappers to get them through an MOT.
Think Ford Transit sills!
A polyurethane "stone chip" sealant is what you need. 3M do it and so do BMW.

When i had my Mahles they were bare polished alloy and Autosol got them shiney but didnt take long to go dull and pitted again.
I liked using meguiars all metal polish, brings em up like a mirror without much effort and has anti corrosive shizzle so the shine lasts.

Im sure there's other products out there like poorboys etc but i liked that stuff, get it from Halfords for under £10
