I can't help but I assume you did an oil and filter change and there weren't any bits of broken sump in the bottom of the sump?

After you had your "incident" with the sump, did you drive it home with no sump on ?

Did u reconnect everything after fitting the new sump? Did you need to touch the crank sensor or anything like that?
Only in the good lord we trust.. In everything else we check!!

Before you start ripping parts out and buying new ones, a simple multimeter is able to diagnose almost all problems with the engine.

If you've got a screwdriver, undo the rubber fuel hose that runs to the injector rail, and put it into an old bottle. Crank the engine for five seconds. If fuel pours into the bottle, your fuel pump works. That's just saved you thirty quid.

It's more likely to be something electrical than mechanical. Check all your fuses, check all the plugs in the engine bay like the Crank Position Plug, ICV plug, main loom plug under the inlet manifold. and the fuel pump and DME relays. If you're not sure what any of these are, use the SEARCH button.

Who fitted the new sump?
