This looks fairly similar to my one which i pulled out of a skip.

To fit mine i had to weld in another cross member under the car between the rear valance and the spare wheel well.

I then offered up the towbar so as the flat plate sat infront of the rear valance and drilled through the valance, through the new cross member, and through the spare wheel well.

The rest of the towbar, meaning the long piece, sat undernieth the spare wheel well and i drilled and bolted to that.

TBH,it's a little brutal and i wouldn't recomend doing unless your planning on keeping the car as some people may not like it.

Heres a pic or two of mine..............

That's a Towsure towbar. I've got two of them on two of my Tourings.
Fitting is fairly simple - First remove the rear bumper, then place the straight strip of steel with four holes inside the boot, flat against the back panel and right at the bottom, and exactly in the middle.
Drill the four holes in the back panel, fit the outer nuts and bolts, bolt heads outward, with washers, and bolt the towbar up to the middle two holes.
Put a jack under the car on the towbar, between the two mounting brackets and jack up the bar untill it touches the spare wheel well at all four points. Drill the four holes into the wheel well, and fit the bolts downwards with washers under their heads.
For the electrics, you can pick up all the feeds from the wiring to the two rear lamp clusters, unless you have a bulb failure monitor on your car, in which case you will have to extend the brake and side light wires to connect to the inputs of the bulb monitoring module. (Inside left rear wing).
If you're really keen you can change the flasher relay for a special towing one, and wire up the trailer indicator position in the instrunent cluster.
Hope you didn't pay too much for it - they're Ԛ£44-50 new.

Paid Ԛ£50 for it off Fleabay! DOH!!!

Thanks for the advice Brian, all this drilling holes makes me a bit nervous! Can you get one that just bolts onto existing Holes or brackets instead?

Also, If I do drill some holes, what's the best thing to paint it with to avoid the rust setting in, around them?

Cheers,

Beanie

Use a zinc rich paint around the drilled holes, and a bit of waxoyl doesn't hurt either when the paint is dry.
Use the towbar itself as a guide for drilling the holes. On both mine one of the rearmost holes underneath partly overlapped a metal grommet, which came loose. A larger flat washer solved this.

Current price is Ԛ£44.50 for the bar, Ԛ£3.95 for the ball hitch, Ԛ£2-15 for the socket and plate, and Ԛ£4.95 carriage = Ԛ£55.55, so you're still Ԛ£5.55 in!

If anyone wants a tow bar, I have a nice one for the E30 available including all fittings. It even has twin electrics. My car came with it but I hate 'em and it was soon removed! Simple to fit, just need to drill a few holes and take the wiring from the rear light feeds. Yours for Ԛ£30 - cost Ԛ£96 new.
