Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have an e30 325i mtech 2. Yesterday when I turned the car off and removed the key. I then noticed the rev needle moved from 0 to just under a 1000 rpm although there was no ignition or power to the car? I also noticed that my fuel consumption sits at 0 when I'm stationary is this correct as its smells very rich and every now and again cuts out? Would be great full of any help or feedback.

Sounds like you're over fuelling (for the rich small and cutting out), the fuel consumption is correct when stationary.

Over fuelling can be attributed to the blue temp sensor so it's worth testing that before you start fiddling with other bits.
What RPM does the car idle at by the way?

Cheers for that! It's quite erratic when cold? Once warm she sits about 800rpm. What are the means of checking the blue temp sensor? Thanks for the help!

When the car is stationary, it will be doing 0mpg.

Strange instrument fluctuations are usually a sign of failing SI board batteries - do your SI lights work OK?

Si seems to light up fine as I have the inspection light on?

They often fail with the Inspection light on! Try resetting them, and see if they work OK.

Try cleaning the contacts with a fine brass wire brush or similar, perhaps used in conjunction with electrical contact cleaner spray.
