Size of speakers in a 316?

Are the speakers 5.25''? About to buy a set of components but want to make sure they fit..

Yes, front speakers standard fit size.

Will i need adapters? not sure how deep the speaker spot is

It should just fit in as long as the magnets aren't too deep. You could measure the depth and then check the technical specs of the speakers you're after. It's tricky to use spacers or even grills as they foul the glovebox/ bonnet release lever.
