Do i need a particular adapter? have a pioneer HU i want to put in but not sure what i need! do i need an aerial adapter as well?

You generally won't know until you take out the existing head unit, most E30s have had their wiring hacked about by now.
E30 Touring 0.35 cD - more slippery than prison soap :)

Probably; I think the standard E30 looms were designed for 1980s Blaupunkt head units.

the cassette player just pulls right out, if i remove the cage, will an aftermarket HU fit correctly? or will i need something to help it fit (like a fascia)

Get an after market head unit that has its own cage then just swap them

Already have an expensive HU that i want to put in, no cage :( also need to know what sort of wiring loom i will need and if i need an aerial adapter!
