Quite neat. Was that done with a hammer and dolly, or a rolling wheel?

Used a bead roller, shrinker/stretcher and hammer and dolly. Am slowly building up my collection of metalwork tools.

Went for a drive yesterday and heard a rotational scraping noise when the car was warmed up after a few miles, it was speed based so knew it would be a wheel or something around one.
Worked out it was the OSR wheel so pulled the wheel so tonight I pulled the wheel and disc off to be greeted with this:

and

Now these pins and springs were all new back in Feb of this year, I can only assume that the backplate is knackered which has caused the pin to get thrown around the inside of the brakes (luckily it's only the handbrake).
I'll pick up a new pin and spring from my local BMW at the weekend and see if I can fix it, really rather annoying though, makes the handbrake a bit dodgy and also means driving it shaves off loads of friction material from the shoe that is loose.

That backplate's definitely seen better days! However, I've heard of folk doing away with the pins that pull through enlarged holes, and instead use bolts and the springs/washers to secure the shoes.

Update to my oil pan gasket replacement. Got the pan off using the Bentley method with lots of fiddling but wouldn't go back without messing up the pan mating surface so jacked up the engine on the A/C bracket. Couldn't get the gasket to stay on either the engine or the pan using sealer so cleaned both and then used thread to tie it to about 10 pan bolt holes and all went fine. Pissy job.

Nah, black 325i 2dr, just had it mopped, bits painted, wheels refurbed, loads of work done and now the left side of the boot is a bout 6 inches higher and shorter than the other side lol.
No casualties tho, scott (the passenger) and I both walked away, even managed to drive the car home

No way you can straighten it out then, or is reshelling the only option?

Filled the tank and then cleaned the car inside and out ready for showing on Sunday
I did notice that it tended to stand out amongst all the drab looking moderns at the petrol station.

And fixed!darkchild wrote:Bought it a new tax disc. And a new engine. Hopefully it'll be back on the road next week.
Got a very nice low mileage engine delivered from BBB. It already had a new water pump, plugs etc which was an unexpected bonus. Only drama was a few snapped exhaust manifold studs but they're all fixed now.
Picked it up today and everything is running sweet. A nice smooth engine which seems to have just that little bit more oomph than the original lump. Even managed to achieve 34mpg according to a no doubt slightly optimistic OBC on my 30 mile journey home! Really glad to have the old girl fixed and back in service. Admittedly its money I'll never see again but I'm happy its back on the road.

Took it on a trip to the Norwich Motor Show. Nothing too exciting spotted - usual collection of Triumphs & MGs, a few vintage Fords, an Allegro Post Office Van and a C Plate Granada! Thats the classic motoring scene in Norfolk!
Cooper BMW had a small selection there. A very nice white M6 coupe, a 120d, a selection of Minis and a boring as f*ck F30 316i with awful fabric seats... utterly bland. Mind you, infinitely preferable to anything on the Peugeot stand - ugly 208s and a hideous and pointless flid-chariot called a 107.

All told cost me 490euros to get it all sorted which really is a lucky escape.
Lesson learnt

Oh, and to keep this on topic, today i have started stripping EVERYTHING off the car that isn't bent, which is annoying cos i only had the front and rear subframes off 2-3 months back for a refurb.
