Folks, as above, as I've not posted a daft question for some time...

On a long trip tomorrow and it's going to be hot. I'm wondering if I can overfill the oil and coolant?

Or will this cause other problems? What's the worst that can happen if I have too much of either?

(Was going to post in technical, but it barely qualifies!!!)

Thanks

No don't overfill, just take spares of both.

Too much oil can create too much pressure, blowing a seal is a possibility. Too much water will just leak out.

don't over fill any of them or you will have problem and be coming home on the back of an RAC or AA truck, top up to the levels and go

p.s. what country do you live in ?

Why would you want to overfill anything? would you overfill a bath? would you overfill a kettle? why on earth would you want to overfill it?

it really is quite worry when you see "questions" like this

Do you think there might be reasons why bmw in all their wisdom decided exactly where to set the MAXIMUM levels?
cheers,
