It seems to have developed a nasty habit now that the central locking works...it will unlock itself. I *think* it is due to the locks being gummy and needing a rebuild, do need to investigate that as having an unlocked car isn't ideal.
What did you do to your E30 today?

Replaced my throttle cable, because the old one snapped on the M5 yesterday
Stupid Weber 'universal' throttle cable attachment, biggest POS ever. May also be because I never bought a manual throttle stop and kept my auto one, making it essentially impossible to set a WOT position

Removed the hardtop, delighted to find the electric hood worked fine after 4 months in hiding, and went for a top down tour along the Darenth valley in Kent. Also enjoying the newly fitted MTech 2 that replaced the old 'bus driver' wheel...

Took all the springs off the cab ready to deliver to another zoner tomorrow, fitted new rear springs and found out my sparing compressor is not long enough to compress the front springs enough.

Power steering fluid flushed and changed, oil and filter changed, fuel filter changed, coolant added and fired up for the first time in 3 months. Fooker is being a PITA to bleed as usual.
But not bad for just over an hours work. By some miracle it may even be ready for an MOT by Saturday.

Discovered that Bottletops are faster than BBS over the potholed and cratered excuses for roads that we have round here. Once the winter has beaten the crap out of the pothole patches, the farmers drive huge tractors and 20 ton trailers over the wreckage until you need 65 section tyres to keep your fillings in place.
Plus I don't care if I buckle Bottletops because I've got three sets

Rear springs turned up today, finally.
So set about fitting them. Just as well I did.
This is what faced me after removing the wheel. Dickhead PO.

Cable ties are my handiwork, to help remove the spring.
Was sitting like this before spring change.

Now sitting this way.

Possibly need to do the fronts, but hope the rear drops a lot over the next few days.
Suprisingly not a bad ride even with the rear that high.

It'll drop a bit, but not enough to make it look alright. You'll need to take out the spring pads at a minimum. Remember the rear arch sits higher on a PFL as well.
Or raise the front.

What would have caused the spring to jump out of its mounting like that, I wonder?
My chromey 320iSE failed an MOT because it had cheap lowering springs fitted by a PO, which had warped, although it still drove OK; I refitted an original set of BMW springs from my first chromey 320i that had been stored in the garage after I had that lowered.
