Hi people. I have recently noticed my clutch pedal is slowly making its way to the floor. I thought my clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder had gone, but as i lifted the bonet i noticed that the black screw on cap on the drivers side of the engine bay had cracked and was loose. I can only assume that this is the clutch reservoir and the fluid has blown out the top as i have been pressing the clutch. Does this sound possible ? any help would be much appriciated.

No. Pressing the clutch doesnt force fluid in that direction.

Most probably the clutch slave cylinder is leaking (it's bolted onto the gearbox by 2 13mm nuts.

do you know if this is located on the drivers side of the gearbox or passenger ? i have checked the footwell for fluid and there is no sign of any so i dont think it's the cylinder in the car...

Got the same problem on my girls touring, most common pro is the clutch master cylinder/ slave cylinder. check under the clutch pedel or under the gearboxon the passager side.

the caps always crack/come lose/ are a generally poor fit. Put some duct tape/ gaffer tape around the cap when it is on, stops it unscrewing with the vibration

i had the same problem on my sport,i noticed that there was no fluid in my bottle,so i filled it up and noticed that it was taking more fluid than its supposed to,but then i noticed fluid was leaking near the accelleration pedal. So my mechanic advised me to by a slave cylinder and master cylinder, becuase he was amazed that o told him i was driving the car for weeks without the fluid inside,so then he put the parts in and now its all ok,no leaks.
