My new E21

As for the E30, the e30 needs painted, hand brake cables and a water pump, then itl be a road legal machine
I already have bottle tops for the 21 so im going to polish the lips up a bit and paint the centres gold, drop it maybe 30-40mm and thats as far as cosmetics go thus far.

Gold? It isn't an Impreza!
As you go further back in time with cars, you get softer and softer suspension...wallowy cars are ace provided you don't push them hard, unless you WANT to shart yourself.

Im growing bored of the banter on here. Its almost to the point people hope its a rust box to be proven right
Didnt get pics today as me and two friends spent 4 or 5 hours tuning the timing, carb and replacing hoses and fixing the choke. Thing runs way better.
Next up is an oil change and the timing chain needs tensioned. Im also ordering a new sill tomorrow and will get that on. Apart from that and the wing the rest is great. Im also installing the OEM period cassette player another 2 footwell speakers and the leather E30 rear bench. James also is selling me black half leathers for the front that will go well. Dads been working on the E30 doing the rear bearings while iv been fucking with this..
Its surprisingly lairy, I drove to work and it was snowing this morning, was fine. I did clip a painted road marking coming out a junction though and get very very broadside. But i got it under control and managed to avoid it happening again. Its hard because the throttle cable has about half an inch of play in it and the clutch is very tough. Im learning though

These are worse than an E30 in the wet.
There suspension is twice as worn and old, so get those sorted first.

Verde going on what you said about budget no one can expect a perfect car. As long as this earns your strips for a while and you don't do what pretty much all of us did as a new driver and crash it in quite spectacular fashion trying to impress a bird or your mates your doing fine.

Hi Verd. Get the video and more pics up, please....!

PONY, 2013 - "Anyway span 360 degrees hitting the kerb and giving the old man two fingers as I was spinning like Michael Schumacher would
Video - Il get a video filmed at lunch time
E30 rear bench - I hate the blue and vinyl cloth sprung horrid ripped seats. And I have a leather armrest E30 bench.....Makes sense. James is also selling
Mims - What they like Nick and how much. A friend is selling me the E21 turbine wheels with tyres for 80 quid? Im in Aberdoom on Saturday could come see the car if you wish?
Senior Carb Doctor Duff ( my mate Todd ) and Fergus and myself ripped into it yesterday, as above mentioned. When I got it home from the Hospital ( The pavement outside Todds house ) we replaced some of the hoses ( oil hoses were absolutely FUCKED, big slashes ) It runs SOOO much smoother. Just got to work and cant wipe the grin off my face. Its still juddery in the low RPMs, but it idles now and i dont need to heel toe at junctions to keep it from stalling. The power pick up is much much smoother and it just makes the car feel so much better. Im ordering an oil filter at Lunch time then were going to drop and replace the oil tomorrow aswell as do the filter. At the weekend wel be fitting a new throttle cable as this one has a lot of slack and doing the timing
Should I make a thread for this in members rides?

~£70 from BMW when I asked a month ago, but a Febi one(#25063) can be had for about £30. Non in the country though, unless your local Febi supplier has had one sat on the shelf since 1986 :p. I've been waiting for one for about a month now. Doesn't help citylink lost one though.Andyboy wrote:If the timing chain needs tensioning then it'll be the top sprocket that's worn out. Common on M10's but only £35 new and a couple of hours to change.
Why are you fitting an E30 leather rear bench?
Easy enough to change. Might as well do the tensioner piston whilst your there as well.
I dont know if its fucked yet I might just need to adjust it, but we shall see. Im having so much fun working on it. My dad has been doing a lot of the e30 mechanically bits but im loving getting underneath and stuck into it. I have more motivation because I can actually get in, drive it and feel the difference

You can't really adjust it as such. It's a hydraulic tensioner. Once there is too much wear on the sprockets and chain, it just simply can't tension it enough anymore. The only cure is to change the sprockets and chain. But it's easier to change the cam sprocket and tensioner than anything else so might as well start there.
the roads are pretty dam bad actually. I dont want it lowered much, the car just needs stiffered a bit, its so wallowy its a bit scary, it causes the rear end to bounce and skipdiable wrote:On the roads where you live the harsh ride will cause the car to fall apartverde wrote:Also lowering springs...could I lower it 40mm without changing shocks?

Before I do bushes i need to stop the engine juddering and the terrible gas linkage. The car judders in low RPM making town driving expensive and pretty hard, plus you look like a fucking dick
